Question about HP Photosmart C3150 Printer
The light will
blink if I push the scan button, but nothing happens. If I try to
initiate a scan from the laptop, the error says that the device does
not support that function. I have downloaded the latest driver again,
but it makes no difference.

Mac released v10.5.4 on June 30, 2008. The latest Mac driver on the HP site (http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/softwareList?os=219&lc=en&dlc=en&cc=us&lang=en&product=1146336) was dated January 2008.
If you are using / have used the "Full Feature Software", per the HP guidance issued at http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/document?lc=en&cc=us&docname=c00652016&dlc=en&product=1146336, the All-in-One software should be uninstalled prior to installing an update to the operating system in order to prevent potential future issues. [This is included for your information, as if the product is on your system, it may help to remove it.]
It would appear that perhaps HP has not yet caught up with Mac on this one. I would suggest using the "Contact HP" link from the driver page listed in the first paragraph. The online chat is often fairly quick, especially if there is a definite answer (as in "we haven't updated that driver yet"). If there is a workaround, perhaps using a driver from another printer with some particular option(s) chosen, they will have it in their database. However, I believe that is the only manner in which this problem may be definitively resolved.
