Question about Hampton Bay 52 In. White Huntington III Ceiling Fan

2 Answers

Light bulb socket uses intermediate base bulbs, not standard bulbs. I want to put in compact fluorescent lamps (lightbulbs) in my hampton bay huntington fan. I either need to use an adaptor to change to a standard base, or change the base within the fan

I found the solution on the web. The only place it looks like that has this adapter is voss lighting. Here is a link to the adapter. http://www.vosslighting.com/storefrontB2BWEB/itemdetail.do?action=prepare_detail&itm_id=18159&itm_index=7

!!!!! we just need intermediate base energy saver light bulbs!!!!!!
It's ridiculous that this company sells products when no body can find supplies to make them work.

Fixture not working after bulb change

"CFLs" Compact Fluorescent Bulbs (with built in ballast) must be labeled as dimmable to be used on a dimmer circuit.

Traditional fluorescent fixtures must have a dimmable ballast installed inside and can be used with standard fluorescent lamps.

Fluorescent lamps must be sized to match the ballast. CFL's are matched at the factory, but others are not. Older fluorescent lamp fixtures have a ballast inside. A type rating is to operate (2) 48 inch / 40 watt lamps. Newer fluorescent lamps are rated for 32 watts, and these will not work - or will have a greatly reduced life.

If you installed CFL's, the first thing I would do is install regular incandescent lamps and see if it works as expected. If not, something else is wrong - otherwise - make sure you've got the right lamps in the fixture.

Replaceing bulb on ceiling fan

Turn off the fan before you climbing the ladder to remove the dead bulbs
  • Note whether a screw secures the shade or if the lightbulb holds the shade in place.Unscrew the lightbulb counterclockwise. If the bulb is securing the shade, grasp the shade with one hand while removing the bulb.Install the new lightbulb by turning clockwise into the socket. If the bulb holds the shade in place, keep the shade in position with one had while screwing in the bulb with the other.

Can I replace the 3 40 watts bulbs that came with my Hampton Bay Hawkins 44" ceiling fan with 3 60 watt bulbs?

You would be better off getting 3 40watt daylight bulbs.. extreamly bright low cost and wont cause any harm to your fan.. hope this helps :)

Light kit has light bulb size that I cannot find bulbs for

Melanie, you must have gotten a bad batch of bulbs. I have installed over 100 Hampton Bay ceiling fans and I have dropped them from up the ladder and have them bounce across the floor with no damage. I think they must have allowed a substandard batch to go out.

Home Depot is where I buy my replacement bulbs. Hampton Bay make fans exclusively for HD.

You can easily change lighting bases, as the wiring is the same for all Hampton Bay. You may even appeal to Hampton Bay on the internet and they might send you the kits. But I don't think you'd have success in a store.

If you try replacing them with bulbs from another Home Depot you may find them much hardier. I wish you the best of luck, and if you need additional help please write back.

Light flickers when dimmer switch isn't ''just right''

Compact fluorescent bulbs do not work on dimmers.  You have to use standard incandescent bulbs or not dim the lights.

Hampton Bay Ponte Vecchio ceiling fan light flickers

Try swapping out the bulbs and see what happens. There are bulbs made specifically for ceiling fans that have heavier duty filaments in the bulbs, or you could use compact fluorescents. The warning about using a solid state control was referring to using a solid state dimmer at the wall switch.
