Hi,
First thing is, you are having the pirated version of XP ,an illegal one. so if you are upgrading or updating it, MICROSOFT will easily find it through one of their updates. That update will repeatedly say as your XP is not genuine.

The best Solution is download "Make Your Copy of Windows 100% Genuine in 2 Seconds".
There will be a no of steps you have to do that will be mentioned in that download itself.

Hope my info is useful.
Bye.

Hi

If you install copy of WIndows XP operating system, do not update it or get update it through internet as it will detect that you are using counterfeiting or pirated software. Just reinstall again the operating system and this time do not get update from internet when installing. Ever it pop up to your computer, just ignore it. Otherwise, that will appear.

Good Luck.

My problem is to remove the genuine software from my computer because no backrounds are showing in my desktop

The "Windows Genuine Advantage" software on your computer has discovered that you are using a "counterfeit" version of Windows XP.

So, if you bought the computer from a computer-store, and they installed Windows, you can report them to Microsoft: call 1-800-R-U-LEGIT to report them as "software pirates".

Or, see: http://www.microsoft.com/genuine/
for information on how to convert your copy into a "genuine" copy of Microsoft Windows.

Or, buy a retail copy of "Windows 7 Upgrade", and upgrade your Operating System from XP to the latest version.

Purchase a "Windows Vista Upgrade" or "Windows 7 Upgrade" disk, and install the newer version of Windows, to replace your current non-genuine version.

Windows

If your computer meets the hardware compatibility requirements,

purchase Windows Vista Home Basic 32-Bit at this link for under

$90.00. Install it as an upgrade and your existing files will be moved

to a folder named Windows.old. If you choose to upgrade bear in

mind that Vista puts your system resources under a heavier load

so you may want to add more memory to your machine.

When i restart my lap then show message you may be a victim of software counterfeiting. this copy of windows did not pass genuine windows validation

Hello

It is the update kb905474 which came in as part of the latest updates.
It also installs the "You may be a victim of software counterfeiting" splash screen before/during start up of windows.
The removal of the hollow star is quite simple but there is no option of uninstalling the update(so far)
Read this: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/905474/en-us

and you "can" delete(rename) this to get rid of the star:C:\WINDOWS\SoftwareDistribution\Download\wgat ray.exe

Hope this is of some help
