Denton receiver shuts off when there is a loud sound from the show

Your Denon receiver may be going into overload, which comes from playing it too long, and too loud. Try reducing the volume to 1/2 your normal level. If you still have issues or questions, please visit my website at audioserviceclinic.com. Thank you.

Have bought a Technika DAB 109 CRF radio and no instructions. 1. how do I tune it and SAVE to presets 2. How do I set the alarm? Thank you

To set alarm mode :- press Alarm 1 or 2 briefly to swtich between choices of Alarm On-Beep / DAB / FM / Off, keep pressing this alarm button until you get to the mode you want then stop pressing and leave to settle.
To set time: Press and HOLD Alarm 1 or 2 to change time. Minutes will flash first, use dial to change numbers, when you've got to the number you want press jog/select to change hour, use dial to change hour number. If you just leave it alone once you've reached the hour you want it will set where you left it, but...
If you want to specify preset channel/volume/beep tone etc keep pressing jog/preset after setting hour and use dial to set your preferences.

When playing dvd or or on video 3 playing a directv movie. Receiver keeps shutting off and the screen says protect. Seems to do it when the movie scene gets loud.

check your wires if there not touching behind the speakers and receiver. when it says protect this means something is shorting out or crossing over. one other thing it may be is if a speaker is starting to go bad. (please rate)

Turns itself off when volume is turned pu

This is very common problem related to overload of the amplifiers.
There are a few things you can do to remedy this; often only one of which may fix the problem, do more if you have to.

If you prefer to not reduce the volume, then if you have any bass boost, loudness control or equalizer enabled then disable them. It requires more amplifier power.
If there is anything that you have placed on the receiver remove it. There must be enough airflow allowed to the unit to dissipate heat.
Connect more efficient speakers.

We have a Denon AVR 1905/785 We cannot turn the volume down.... it is at -70 and full blast... the volume turns up and gets even louder.... but can't turn the surround sound down... help

if the volume control as been forced the conection in the switch as jammed +vol .this is usually a small preset under the knob the right hand one.pull the knob off pulling straight as not to bend spindle some time's the two presets are visable.a cotton bud dipped in spirits could solve your problem but some times you need to pull the top of the preset .it might need removing and replacing . this could be a more complicated problem caused by a variety of things here are a few,dry joints, cracked pannel .hope some of this helped . if in dire straits skype me farr64

Onkyo TX-SR705 Muting Problem

if what Dark_Orbit said does not work try doing a master reset by ressing and holding the dvr/vcr button and stand by button simultaneously. This would erase all your assignments so you would need to reassign all your sources hooked up to your onkyo.

I have Marantz tuner & preamp AC500 conected to 5 amplifiers and speakers in 13 rooms. System was working great for 12 years. Now, I have to reduce the volume on Marantz preamp, from 12 to 9 to avoid...

Hi Andrew49

If all the amps are going into protection mode, then the preamp may be pushing a DC component with the signal. This is a little serious, and should be investigated further. There may be some deterioration in the electronics of the preamp causing this. I would suspect a leaky transistor or bypass/coupling capacitor in the DC coupled output stages. should not be too hard fix for a good HiFi tech.

Hitachi AX-M131U several weeks old, remote not controlling, on manual switch on the volume ramps to max, unable to reduce. Have tried reboot and holding on off button. Any advice???? Regards Geoff Law

This should still be under warranty. It sounds like the internal CPU is confused. This could be a simple power suplpy problem or something a bit more complex. Return it for warranty service.
Keep us posted.

Need instruction booklet for HITACHI AX-M138 USB DAB CD DVD MP3 HIFI SYSTEM. Bought on Ebay and didn't come with instructions

I have found out that the Hitachi AX-M138 was only ever distributed in the UK by DSG (Dixons / Currys) so you could try their spare page at www.mastercare.co.uk to see if they can supply you with a manual. I've had a look & they no longer list it but it's worth an email to them. Otherwise I have a copy if your interested.
