My humidifier is a Carrier and uses the square evaporator cartrages. There is a drain pipe coming out of the bottom that goes to a floor drain. I've noticed that there is a slow drip here all of the time when the humidifier is on, but furnace off. Is this normal?

humidifiers have a drain and if there is water going in it will be coming out the drain. check drain to see if it is clear, check hoses going into top of humidifier for cracks, check filter in humidifier.

The humidifier should run in winter, however if the windows are fogged up it means the humidistat is set too high. Try lowerimg the setting on tue humidistat.

One way of removing the gunk is to disconnect the tubing from the humidifier and use a flexible and thin rod that will fit in the tubing and try to dislodge it, or you can try using a shop vac and see if the suction pressure will remove it. If the tubing is really clogged then sometimes it's better to just replace the vinyl tubing with pvc pipe and drain it to the floor drain, I always prever pvc pipe over vinyl tubing when it comes to drain lines for humidifiers.

THE TUBE THAT IS LEAKING IS MADE TO DRAIN OFF EXCESS WATER FROM THE ROLLER AND THE REASON IT LEAKS IS BECAUSE IT ALSO NEEDS SERVICE JUST PULL IT OFF AND CUT THE SEWELLED PART OFF WITH RAZOR OR CUTTING KNIFE IF IT IS PLASTIC TUBING AND REPLACE IT. IT SHOULD BE DRAINING INTO THE DRAIN ON THE FLOOR WHERE THE FURNACE CONDENSATE TUBE IS.

Hi they should be a hose going to a drain in the floor there are insrtuctions on the wed just google the make and model and you can down load them

you need to replace the pad every season. if you are using a generic pad maybe more often. it also must be level and the drain coming off bottom clear. i suggest getting pads from aprilaire.com . not the generic from hardware store. also if its got a black feed tube going from the solinoid valve to the top of the humidifier pad you may want to replace that aswell, they have been known to crack the new ones are grey.

Install new water panels yearly. On the new panel make sure that the painted dot on the edge of the panel is on the top when you install it.
Always clean the distribution tray and the frame. Make sure the notch on the edge of the distribution tray faces away from the furnace. Make sure the humidifier was installed level. Keep the drain tube opening clear. Insure there is no blockages in the drain tube.

1/4" flexible copper pipe. Tap into your cold water line using the included saddle valve (pierces the pipe), attach the 1/4" flexible copper pipe to the saddle valve on the cold water pipe and the solenoid valve on humidifier unit using the included compression fittings. Tada!
