sounds like you need new power tubes (they are the larger ones closest to the opening in the back).  When replacing power tubes it is extremely wise to replace all 4 at the same time.  If you an not comfortable doing this on your own, take it to your local shop/guitar amp tech.

BX-40 bass amp works great for about 10 minutes then starts to cut in and out?..I let it cool down for a while then the same issue every time? any ideas? Thanks , Craig

It is having a thermal runaway as the output transitors are heating up to cut off . so first of all release the loaded speakers to test if the fault changes. If so you r speakers must be checked for mismatch of impedance.
Otherwise the power amp circuit must be checked for excessive biasing check stage by stage, check for leaks in preamp stage that makes the output run wild.

Sr 4300 reciever will work for 10 mins or so then cuts out

It may be an overheating problem. Make sure it is well ventilated. Also it could have a build up of dust bunnies inside in some of the heatsinks. If you are comfortable with it, take of the cover and gently blow it out with a compressor (low PSI) or canned air so it is clean inside. May also be an intermittent part which is a bit harder to find.

My Behringer gx212 ultratwin amplifier started to lose volume last night at band practice and then I smelled buring wiring. I think I lost or am in the process of losing the amp transformer. I think the...

Hi I just recently purchased a Behringer GMX 212 and had similar volume dropout on the clean channel only Channel 2 works better and has more punch in clean mode.I went to the shop where I purchased it with a 7 day warranty from some indian dude here in Nadi Fiji, and there was another GMX 212on the floor so I decided to try it out. This was a new amp. I plugged into the clean channel and turned it up full volume on guitar and amp adn heard the volume drop of in the amp in almost a curve and then the whole amp just cut out. We unplugged and waited, turned the amp off, and then on and stil no sound. We then tried the guitar and cord in another amp. The other amp was fine. Can you solve this problem.......my gut feeling is this happens a lot to Behringer amps.

Cuts off and displays "Protect"

The protect light comes on when the amp cuts off the speakers to protect them from damage if something's wrong in the amp, or to protect the amp from speaker or wiring problems. If the amp plays for a while before cutting off, it's probably a thermal problem in the output stages. One of the output devices may be acting up as it heats up, or it could be bad connections that open up because of the heat. The trouble might also be caused by components in the power supply as well. Without having the unit on the service bench to check it, it's not possible to suggest specific things to look at. The manual wouldn't help you other than to say check your speaker connections and then have it serviced. The best thing to do if you want to keep this is to find a servicer in your area and get an estimate for the repair. Or if you or a friend is technically inclined, look into purchasing a service manual and see if you can do-it-yourself.

Guitar amplifier cracks when turning off

So when you hit the power switch to turn it off you get a crackling sound? This is fairly common with many guitar amps as they don't have a relay which cuts the speaker output when the switch is turned off. What you are hearing is the capacitors draining down. If all else works ok with the amp then there's nothing to worry about.

MY FENDER GUITAR AMPLIFIER IS MAKING A HUMMING BUZZING NOISE

Not sure yet, but before considering a fault with the amp, does it only make this humming noise when not plugged into the guitar? I am thinking that the cable might be faulty.

If it while the cable is plugged in the guitar, does the humming disappear when you turn the volume control(s) down on the guitar? I am thinking that one or pickups may be faulty.

It sounds like there is a transistor that is breaking down because of heat. With the unit placed away from the amp, there is less heat. This unit needs a quick overhaul. If a tech can reproduce the problem, the use of a "freeze" spray will make finding the problem transistor easy. Figure on $5-$10 in parts plus the local labor rate for the total repair.
