Scooter stalls driving over sliding door tracks; scooter dies

My ignition (where key goes in) is wobbly and won't tighten, so any bump knocks out the power. Until I can get it repaired, I have to bungee cord the key tightly in the hole so it won't stall as much. I have a Fortress 1704 4-wheeled scooter.

What type of battery packs do you have, the type the plug in, or the ones that just touch a contact on base of the scooter?

Hi, the wiring must loose around the key switch, it might be a case of taking the tiller off and resoldering the wires onto the key switch. It not a major repair , just a case of getting the tiller panel apart and locating the wires to the switch.

If this is a companion-II scooter, it may be the main wiring harness which runs for the rear to the front of the scooter. Make sure the connection is good by opening the rear compartment and checking all connections.

Pride mobility victory XL front tyre wear

Is your track rod bent or out of alignment? Carefully buy the exact wheels with tyres and a track rod if necessary from dismantled Victory XL scooters (a good wheel with a good tyre about €30 - I've done that for my Pride Celebrity XL8 - it was a great success.

Can the tracking & tyre be fixed?

Hi, Most Car garages will correctly align the front wheels, very similar to a lot of cars so shouldn't pose a problem

Have an Amigo RD. It goes reverse perfectly, but it stalls going forward. Help?

My Amigo RD was doing the same thing, I had to replaced to circuit board and that fixed the problem, don't replace the pot throttle, because I replace the throttle thinking that was the problem, but it wasn't. It was the circuit board.

Hey,
well there is another way of checking the battery's and thats by load testing them.
1)Fully charge the battery's
2) load test both batterys make sure they are reading close to the same
If both battery's check out good than ,The next step would be to check that brake assembly.
1) Put the scooter on blocks so when you drive it doest runaway
2)Take the rear wheel off that the brake side is on
3) Put the scooter in drive with some tape or rubber band to hold it in drive
4) Make sure theres nothing in the way if the scooter should fall
5)check your break if it abnormally hot
If it is in fact abnormally hot ,the you have a break problem.

Hope i was able to help, good luck..

I think your batteries haven`t been charged properly,or they have been left standing so the charge has leaked out.At a minimum your batteries need to be charged for 12 hrs a day for the first month if not they will not build the capacity and will dwindle and die for example it is at only 25% capacity, but looks like a fullcharge, it says it fully charged but will die
quickly this happens because it is charged to its full capacity but that is only 25% of the batteries true potential
resulting in short battery life.
Unfortunately majority of scooter batteries like this have to be newly replaced.

How do you remove the back wheel of a Pride Hurricane scooter

Undo the centre wheel nut and remove along with the washer, jack the rear of the scooter off the ground then slide the wheel off the axle. If it will not remove, it will need knocking off from the inside rim. Be careful not to lose the hub key (a small piece of metal that locates in a slot in the wheel and axle) as the scooter will not drive if this is missing. To remove the trye from the rim, undo the 4 bolts that hold the two wheel halves together. When refitting the wheel, be sure to apply some grease to the axle before sliding on the wheel.

Stalling

Check your batteries, they might be ready to die. Stalling is a sign your are not getting enough power to the scooter and when you do, it runs until they run low again. Kinda like a cell phone batt, ones it dies and you wait awhile you can get it started but only for a couple of minutes before dying again.

There is no power

Seems like you are on the right track and you can save alot of money there. I would aproach this systematically trace the power to the switch then t0o the speed controller and back to moter you can also put some jumpers from a battery to the moter connections.
If it is in such new condition then it must be a damaged or loose connection.
