Drains battery in 24 hours

My RAZR V3 burns through its battery in 24 hours on standby. 3 different new batteries did not solve the problem. I installed a known-good battery (from wife's identical RAZR). Same symptoms. Bluetooth is off.

The battery that came with my RAZR ran over 7 days on standby. Same with the identical battery that came with my wife's identical RAZR. The battery I removed from my wife's phone had run on standby for a week. Fully charged, my phone killed it in 24 hours.

In fact, my phone will drain the battery even if powered down. That's not normal behavior. And before you ask, I can put the battery back in my wife's phone, and it lasts 7 days again. IT'S NOT THE BATTERY. It's a phone setting, or a phone defect.

Anyone seen this? I wonder if some cases of alleged battery malfunction are like this.

Motorola's solution was "maybe the phone needs to be repaired. You can send it to us and for $75, we'll fix it." I guess in some sense this is a "solution", but it is as expensive as the solution of "discard your phone and buy a new phone from a different maker" but has more risks.

The problem is NOT the battery; rather it is a characteristic design flaw with the RAZR V3i (used on GSM systems) which Motorola will NOT admit exists and refuses to fix/replace without a fee (unless its in warrenty)..

Motorola V3 does not hold charge. I have replaced the battery with 2 new ones. I have used 3 different chargers. Low battery indicator comes on after 4 hours even with no use of the phone.

Sounds crazy but have you cleaned the connection area for your battery? Don't use a lot of it but I use hydrogen peroxide to clean mine... just dampen the end of a q-tip and rub the terminals with it. If it fizzles, you have corrosion there... it won't if you don't. This also works for ANYTHING that uses a battery.

RAZR V3 - New battery w/full charge drains in 1hr of standby

take out a battery and check if there is any red paper dots on the back of the phone. If you do have a dot that is at least partially red, that means that your phone got wet and it can not be fixed.

Charge

hi your battery has created a memory because you didn't follow simple battery guidelines:

For a new phone with a new battery;

1)Use the phone the first time until the battery dies,
2)Do a full charge - 6-8hours for the first time
3)Use the phone until it dies the second time
4)recharge the battery for 3-5 hours

then your battery should be good, but now your battery needs to be changed, as it already has memory and can only be restored if completely discharged by a battery conditioner

Charging new phone

it wont harm your phone they just recomend 24 hours to make sure the bat is ok and that it gets fully charged but remember to let your bat go totally flat from time to time this will prolong the life of your battery as it does them no good just keep topping it up so i sugest to let it go totally flat say once a month this will keep your battery lasting longer between charge hope this helps
