Question about HP DesignJet 1050c plus InkJet Printer

Windows Vista print driver for the HP Designjet 1055

We are upgrading (by direction) all of our network workstations to Windows Vista. However, in contacting HP about a Vista driver for our 1055 network large-format printer, we were told that HP considers it "obsolete," and that they will not develop Vista drivers for it.

I'm hearing rumblings on the internet, though, that someone has been able to get the 1055 to print with Vista.

Can someone tell me if there is (are) print drivers for the 1055, and, if so, where I can go to download the files?

Thanks.

It's an HP Designjet 1055CM (large-format) printer/plotter. When I try to set it up as a network printer from a Vista workstation, I get "the printer driver is not compatible."

No, it's from the US. Now you're beginning to understand my frustration in getting anything from HP.

I think it's really irresponsible of them to market a high-ticket item (we paid over $8k for it about 6 years ago) and then decide not to support it with Vista.

If I'm not mistaken, we bought it from CDWG (the government portion of the CDW.com website).

Is this printer from a country outside the US?

Can you verify that model number for me?

Even though HP declares devices obsolete I still should be able to pull up info on their website about it.

I cant plot from AutoCad 2006, using My hp

hmmm.. we only have two computers at my work connected to a router. the designjet has a network card going straight to it. i connect to the router wireless and it reads vista. my boss connects to the design jet thru the router as well with a network card rj cable with xp pro. as for our printer it can be connected via router and does work fine but my boss has it directely connected to his computer and i share it off of his system. then we also have a zerox machine connected via router as well. maybe your router is going out? try a new one or a better one and see if that fixes it. it maybe defected or time for a new one.......

if it was working before then maybe its the router.

Network Printing Issue. I'm running 2008 Domain Controller 2003 File and Print Server. Cisco 3560G switches No 3rd Party print management software User workstations are all Windows Xp Pro SP2 Printers are...

DNS errors then? can you map to the printer via hostname too? Are you sure you're not using SP3? When we upgraded to SP3, we had to use the new drivers. Try new drivers.Have you tried just rebuilding your print server? try sharing the printer off your computer in the data center and try t print to that. When you ping the data center from the user's computer... what is the delay?

I am unable to get my HP DesignJet 450C to communicate with Windows Vista 64. Is there a driver or work around.

Sorry, drivers are not available for Vista, yip, I know. You can select the 430 but then only have black printing.
HP need their rear ends kicked on this one, they are forcing us to purchase new equipment.

I can't print from any program in Vista 64 to my HP 755cm plotter. HP said they no long support this plotter so I can't find a driver. Any suggestions to make this work?

If HP don't support it for Vista you will not be able to get a driver unless you are willing to pay a programmer several thousands of pounds to go into the Vista OS and findout what information it needs so that he can write the drivers. He would also need developer ststus from Microsoft for the source codes etc. Either bin Vista (it's being replaced later this year) or buy anther plotter.

Sorry to be the bearer of bad news. (HP ****!!)

HP DesignJet 1050c InkJet plotting issue

Friends,

You doesn't say what application and OS versions you have, or if the printer is shared from a server or connected locally to a workstation. This is signifcant to solve the problem. Please clarify.

To make this work properly, all machines should have the HPGL driver and all drivers should have both the "Autorotate" "Inked Area" boxes ticked - both under General > Printing Preferences > Advanced AND under Advanced > Printing Defaults > Advanced.

Then you should create a paper size that is as wide as the media is wide, and longer than the longest/widest paper size you're ever going to print (6-10 feet long is OK!) - BOTH under Printing Preferences AND under Printing Defaults. This will ensure that every "odd" paper size (within media width limits) is printed without problems.

If the printer is installed on a server and shared, these settings should be done on the server - and the driver should be reinstalled on the workstations. If not, these chanvges should be done on each workstation that has access to the printer over the network.

When using older versions of AutoCAD you might have to reinstall the printer there as well for the changes to take effect.

Note: This solution has worked successfully over several years while working at HP support. The suggestion about the looong paper size may sound strange but it works!

**you need a good driver:
whilst ordinary printer drivers may treat plotters like very large, slow, desktop printers, our driver uses the native vector graphics capabilities of your large format plotter to render CAD and line drawings at maximum speed.

Go here
www.plotterdriver.it

Third Party Product;
and they are those recommended from HP, Autodesk and work great with Corel Draw, Power Point, Micrografx Designer, EXCELL, Lotus, Word and all vectorial-oriented Windows applications, under W95, W98, WME, NT 4.0, W2000, WinXP, Win VISTA.

You'll find all informations
