Hi there,

The brushbar is designed to stop rotating if you've set it at a level too low for the pile of the carpet you're trying to clean. The indicator light will flash to warn you of this. Using the cleaner with the brushbar raised to the next level on the selector pad should prevent this issue from occurring.

If you have any further concerns about your vacuum, please get in touch with us directly on 1866MYDYSON. One of our experts will be happy to provide the assistance you need.

Kind regards,

Our DC41 is impossible to push on carpet. Is there an adjustment to do? Almost like there is too much suction.

See if the following information can help.

CARPETS OR HARD FLOORS

• The brush bar will always default to 'ON' (spinning) each time you switch the

appliance 'ON' and recline it for cleaning.

• The brush bar will not rotate when the appliance is upright.

• To switch the brush bar 'OFF' (e.g. for delicate rugs and hard floors):

- switch the appliance 'ON'

- recline the appliance

- press the brush bar 'ON/OFF' button - the brush bar will stop spinning.

• The brush bar will automatically stop if it becomes obstructed. See 'Brush bar -

clearing obstructions'.

• Before vacuuming your flooring, rugs and carpets, check the manufacturer's

recommended cleaning instructions.

• Some carpets may fuzz if a rotating brush bar is used when vacuuming. If this

happens, we recommend vacuuming in 'hard floor' mode and consulting with

the flooring manufacturer.

• The brush bar on the appliance may damage some carpet types. If you are
unsure, turn 'OFF' the brush bar.

Dyson dc50 the roller head stops spinning after

Hi, it's Jim from Crucial Vacuum!

One of the main reasons most brush rollers begin to get jammed and eventually not turn would be due to a clog. Turn off the vacuum and flip it on its side. Is there any noticeable debris, such as hair or large carpet fibers? If you're looking to clean out your brush roll do the following. For the DC50 there should be a red button below the vacuum and just above the brush roll. Push this red button, this will allow the brush roller to be removed. On the brush roller itself you'll notice two more similar looking red switches. Flip these up allowing you to remove the top of the roller and gain access for cleaning. Clear out any debris and try rotating the brush roll once around to see what else may fall loose. Take note of how the bristles look too. Are they worn down and loose? If so it may be time to change your roller.

Another item to check would be your vacuums belt. If this is loose as well it can affect your vacuums brush roll. Both are simple and easy fixes and can be done in just a few minutes.

How do I adjust the power cam locationpower cam on a dc27

Hi Charles, it's Jack at Dyson.

DC27 is engineered to adjust automatically for different floor types - there is no way of manually adjusting the height of the wheels or brush bar. The vacuum may need higher push force on certain types of deep pile carpeting. We would recommend checking directly with the carpet manufacturer for their advice on caring for this particular carpeting - manfacturers may recommend vacuuming some carpets with the brush bar turned off, and it may be worth giving this a try.

To turn off the brush bar, just use the brush control switch next to the red on/off switch:

Riccar 8625 doesn't seem to beat carpet but the brush is turning

Your 8625 is well over 20 years old. If it's been over a year since you've replaced the belt start with a new belt. Belts lose elasticity and should be replaced at least once or twice per year. The brush roll will still spin and appear to be working fine but when you put the brush roll onto the carpet it will stop spinning fast enough to clean the carpets.

When i use the carpet cleaner for my kirby vacuum, the belt burns

You tried so that is a start. Relax and try this. The green light is not working which means the the brush is in backwards and the belt is mis- aligned.
There is a tiny magnetic block on the opposite end of the brush, you will see it if you look close. It must go on the led END OF THE HOUSING but THE BRUSH ALSO HAS COLOR CODED BLOCKS SO YOU CAN ONLY PUT IT IN LEVEL IF YOU ARE LOOKING CLOSELY. Be certain to align those blocks so the same color is facing you. They are there to help you lower the brush as it wears. If you put the brush in too low it binds on the carpet and burns belts as well. When properly installed a worn brush should have no more than 1/8" PROTRUDING thru the bottom plate
Once in place with the belt loose the brush should spin freely. If not look for hair or thread wound under those two end blocks.
Now try again and please post back

The reason for the brushes to stop when it is above any surface is there is a switch in the handle that stops the brushes so it dont burn your motor up it may have a faulty switch.

Dyson Animal 17 - brush stopped turning

The belt will stop itself from spinning if you accidentally picked up a shoestring or vacuumed the edged of a carpet and the carpet got caught. To have the brush spinning again, simply step on the front of the machine, pull back the handle, turn the machine on with the red power button and press the gray button next to the red button - that's the ON/OFF button for the brushbar. If it doesn't spin, press and hold the button down for 10 seconds. If it still doesn't work, call the Dyson helpline, they'll have you open up the cleaner and inspect the belt and brushbar motor and if all else fails, they'll refer you to a local repair dealer in your area to fix it.
