PS3 Problems with Downloading System Updates or Game Updates

My Ps3 is able to go online, visit the PSN Store, and download demos; however when i try to download PS3 system updates and game updates it wont allow me. It will get about halfway when it suddenly stops and gives me the 80710723 Error Code. I Currently have it setup via wireless connected to a Belkin Router. I have tried everything i could think off and still get that darn message. I tried going wired and it doesnt work. I tried Manually entering ports given by sony and it doesnt work. I tried placing it in a DMZ and it still does not work. Are there any suggestions?

When i call sony and belkin each time i call the operator tells me different things and i am tired of the run around.

When i am using my PS3 i can put a game in whilst off of the PSN and it will work however as soon as i sign into the PSN to go on a game online or perfomr the updates it crashes out and goes to a blank...

You can try resetting all your network settings on the system itself including your PSN sign in info. After clearing it all out and resetting the settings you should be able to relink your PSN account to the system and sign in. There could be some corrupt cache or update files in the system as well so you may have to do a system restore to defaults if the first method is a fail.
Good Luck and Happy Gaming!

My system works fine but some demo downloads won't play I have sound but the picture shows diagonal lines across the screen

Maybe the Demo Game isn't compatible with your TV, or your PS3. Try going to a friends house (who has a PS3 obviously), and try downloading that game on his. If it works, it could be just your PS3. If not, its probably the Game itself.

I'm having a problem with my PS3. All of my downloaded game demos and purchased games disappeared. I tried to re-download them and when done and installed they still don't show in the game drop window....

Your hard drive might be corrupted. You can try formatting your PS3 hard drive and recover your profile and game downloads online afterwards. Hence formatting the HDD will restore your PS3 system into the original factory settings including the firmware so you have to do all system updates from the beginning.

Ps3 wont read games or dvds what should i do?

I HOPE EVERYONE READS THIS AS IT'S LIKELY A (FREE) SOLUTION TO YOUR WOES.

My ps3 recently conked out on me and the local game store (and the internet) told me it was a broken laser.

I told them that I couldn't play video games, not even ps2 games. They still said it was a broken laser.

When I found out it would be 140 bucks to have it replaced and installed I decided to just download some demos.

HERE'S WHERE IT GETS INTERESTING.

I went on the playstation network (psn) and downloaded a game demo, installed it, and played it. When I quit out of the demo, the laser was reading and I could play games!

When I turned off the system and tried again the next day, again it didn't work.

I followed the same process. Went into a downloaded game, this time quit right after the demo loaded, and sure enough, the laser was working again!

Every time I quit a game I have to follow this process, but every time it works, too.

So again:

1. download and install a psn game or game demo
2. put the disc of the game you want to play
3. load the psn game or demo as if you were going to play it
4. quit the demo as soon as you get to the start menu of it
5. go and play the game you wanted to, sucka, cause it works now!!!

I hope this works for you, and if it does, spread the word!

Try turning the system off completely with the main power switch on the back of the console. If that doesnt work call Sony technical support for further help.
