Question about Televison & Video

1 Answer

I have a Toshiba DVD video player model SD 555 SA. It is for PAL dvds. The remote (Toshiba SE-R0236) died and I purchased a Zenith universal remote ZP305. None of the codes indicated for Toshiba allows the remote to control the dvd player though some do appear to allow some functions to occur (changing the channel) though none will allow for the navigation of dvd menus and effective remote operation. Please help with a code or fix.

You may have to try a different universal remote control. All universal remote controls do not contain all possible codes.

SOURCE: rca remote control code list

unfortunately i do not have a code for that specific model, you can however try the automatic code search method.

1) turn on the dvd player
2) press and hold the code search button, when the indicator light is lit, release the code search button
3) press and release the component button you wish to use (dvd), the indicator light should blink once and remain lit
4) aim the remote at the dvd player and push the on/off/power button, there is a 3 second pause between codes, so keep the remote aimed at the dvd player
5) as soon as the dvd player turns off via remote, press and release the enter button

now to record the code for future reference..
1) press and hold the code search button, when the indicator light is lit, release the code search button
2) press and release the component button you wish to use (dvd), the indicator light should blink once and remain lit
3) press and release the code search button, the indicator light should turn off
4) starting with 0, press and release each button in numerical order (0-9) until the light blinks, write down the number that caused the light to blink

repeat step 4 two more times until you have the 3 digit code. in the future you can use the direct programming mode to reprogram the remote if need be.

hope this helps,
trin

SOURCE: codes for my dvd player and zenith vcr

Most remotes use the same code sets. Here's what Radio Shack says for your brand:

dvd: 0503,0539,0646,0675,0821,1268,1914

vcr:0000,0039,1137,1479

let me know how you made out.

SOURCE: Universal remote code for an etec dvd player

I have the exact same model and it came without a remote. I was able to set it up so I can work it off of the Comcast 3 in 1 remote but the button layout is extremely confusing. I am currently looking for a replacement remote that would be easier to use since my wife can not get it to work at all off the Comcast one. Follow the instructions in the Comcast Remote Guide and you will find a code to make it work by doing a random search you just have to keep trying it will take some time.

Need codes for he universal remote to program to Toshiba DVD player SD-1800

Use the code search provision of your universal remote to seek a suitable code. If a search through all codes stored in the remote fails, you may have to try a different universal remote. All universal remotes do not store all possible codes.

Daytek DVK2001S will not read "PAL" DVD.

Yep, your dvd player may be capabile of producing a PAL video signal, but that does not mean it will play DVDs from a different region. If you require that functionality, do some research on the internet to find a player that will play any regon before making a purchase decision.

Usually pressing the record button a few times will change recording increments on all machines. Some newer universal remotes that have codes for dual dvd/vcr machines will work not older remotes.

Help

HI,
it depends on whether the drive is multi-region ?
Some drives are region Set, i.e Region 1 ( NTSC-USA )
Region 2 ( UK PAL )
Most Players Are Region Set, To the country they are purchased in, you can sometimes set the player to become, multi-region, via various buttons on the remote or by the front panel.
I offer a service to unlock 99% of DVD Players, to play all or many regions.
We do have a charge for this Service.
Many Thanks mike @ Compurepair.
