Question about Polaroid FLM-3734B 37 in. LCD HDTV
When the TV is turned on a high pitch noise is heard. After about 3 minutes it stops. If you turn on the direct TV receiver at the same time the noise is louder especially if it is on an HD channel. Sometimes it will even effect the picture if you turn them on at the same time. The TV is about 2 years old. The direct TV people were out and said it was not their receiver causing the problem.
So what is the best solution to fix this? Buy a new power supply

The power supply is starting to fail on your LCD. The noise you hear is because the circuit is trying to provide the proper power to the rest of the circuitry and is forcing itself.
The noise does increase if you tune to an HD channel because of more demand for power for a brighter picture.
