There could be several causes, but the most common are these two..
1. Loose connections to the terminals.
2. Over-amperage on the terminal.

What I would do is see if maybe a terminal on the compressor is burnt. Easy fix. Looked up the model number to no avail. If you have separate capacitors for fan and compressor I would look for a swollen failed capacitor. Check and see if the compressor termials all have continuity with each other. If you read an open circuit between any 2 terminals on the compressor then the compressor is shot

Fuse keep blowing out before it come completely on. Red light links five

Due high pressure or over current in your a/c.Check with amps meter and also loose wiring or burnt wiring and rectify it.
Power off, and check compressor winging with ohms meter. CR, CS, SR. The reading of SR must be the total of other two. Check with one terminal and ground, if it reads anything, your compressor is grounded. That is one of the main reason for fuse blown. Thanks.

The 3 amp fuse on the control board of my furnace blows often when the heat comes on and immediately when the A/C comes on. I got a new thermostat. Can the blue and yellow wires for the A/C be switched...

Yes if the wires are on the wrong terminals the fuse will blow.
Also any short circuit of any wire will cause the fuse to blow.
The yellow wire is typically for the compressor contactor to engage.
The blue wire is typically a neutral wire.
If blue is touching any other wire and it is the neutral wire the fuse will blow.

Hi i replace 3 lg compressor 12000btu and i feel i did everything corrently but my compressor burnt ,and turns of the circuit breaker.i have check the voltage which is 240,current 5.6amp and psi 55...

i think you did wrong connection with compressor please make sure first your connection is correct then install your compressor unit make vacuum in unit and then try to fill freon also use over load protectors in compressor for security .correct connection are giving you blow :

C : connect here wire which one is coming from main supply/thermostat /overload protectors

R :connect here wire which one is coming from capacitor ( C terminal).

S : connect here wire which one coming from H terminal of capacitor if capaciter/if capacitor is no mark then one wire i mean no require from H OR C terminal .

Compresser not working, Not blowing out cold air

Without troubleshooting with a meter to make sure more often than not the dual capacitor is the reason that the fan blows but the compressor does not start.

This is the part for your model that we are talking about:

You can test you old one if your good with an analog meter by simply reversing the leads across the terminals on an R X1000 or higher setting on the meter. The meter should jump give a momentary reading and drop return to infinity. Only 2 of the 3 terminals will show meter movement. Mind you you must make sure the unit is unplugged while testing.

Air is not cold

the fact that the compressor light is coming on tells me power is being sent to the compressor.

if that is true then there is really only 2 possibilities.

1) you have a wire (or maybe 2) burnt away from the terminal(s). To repair this is fairly simple for the service tech but somewhat complex for the inexperienced, so I won't go into here - but if this is the problem you can probably (with a little expert help) fix it yourself.

2) the compressor is not starting even though voltage is being applied to it's terminals. Usually this is caused by the compressor being 'electrically open,' and there is nothing that can be done except to change out the compressor.

Have a hampton bay 24000 BTU AC. Smelled burnig behind control panal. Opened it up found what seems to be an overload switch burnt through.. Leads go to capacitor terminal C & Herm. I changed the...

I checked wiring on my other 17,000 BTU Hampton bay AC & noted there was no overload switch wired into capacitor. So i just removed the burnt out overload switch which was causing a ground & blowing breaker. I noted it was not wired in between the compressor circuit but just attached to the compressor terminal & common terminal on capacitor. I guess it is a sacrafise type device that saves the compressor from burning out on overload. Anyway The AC worked fine with the burnt overload switch removed. It has been runnning 2 days now with no problems. I however did replace the capacitor with a new one. You can use either an oval or round capacitor as there is ample room. Just make sure your cap. values match old one. I will probable try & purchase a new overload switch if possable & install it at a later date, for the extra protection.

It is possible that the compressor has completley failed and is shorted to ground. The way you check is to access the compressor terminals where the wires hook up. After noting the location of each wire, remove the wires from the compressor terminals. Get a piece of sandpaper and shine up a small area on on of the copper pipes coming out of the compressor. Use an ohmmeter and check for continuity between each one of the compressor terminals and the copper pipe. If you have ANY continuity from any terminal(s) to the pipe, the compressor is dead and will require replacement. If not then check all of the wiring to and from the compressor looking for any possible shorts to ground (wire chafing, cuts, etc.) After that, check the run capacitor for the compressor. If the capacitor is failed, it will cause the compressor to draw locked rotor amps. Generally speaking, the quick way to tell if it is a capacitor or a short is to listen to the unit. If it trys to start for a couple of seconds and the pops the fuse, either it is the capacitor or the compressor is seized up. If it trips the very instant that it trys to come on, it is a short.

Before the replacement of board please check the fallowing:

- Check for loose terminals and re tight.
- Check compressor terminal post if terminal clips are tight.
- Check compressor resistance and terminal to ground resistance. And check your compressor is not stuck up.
- Check indoor and outdoor blower motor if not stuck up by rotating it with your finger, if it rotates freely then its ok.
- Check the resistance of both indoor and outdoor fan motor resistance and line to ground.
- Check your voltage supply if normal.
- Check the compressor and blower motor capacitor if good.
- Check the unit supply wire if not discolored.
- Check the terminal of your circuit breaker if tight.
If all of the above are ok then it is safe to replace your unit with new board
May be poor contact of the said relay may cause the blowing of your board. Volatage fluctuations is also the suspect or damage solder of the board due to heat.
