Question about Mitsubishi PD-5050 50 in. Plasma HDTV
Most of this kind of symptoms is caused by faulty either the logic board or the power supply board. It needs to check the output voltage of the power supply board feeding the logic board to determine where the fault came from. Once confirmed that the voltage is good then you have to replaced the logic board. I've checked my links online for the board's availability but I can't find one. You may contact mitsubishi or your local service center to inquire for the board.
Also check if your unit is under warranty/extended warranty period, avail it because the manufacturer will fix it for free. Opening the back cover will void the warranty.
Hope I helped you.
Have a nice day!
Thanks for using Fixya.

I have a client with a PD 5050 that just stopped recognizing HD signals through HDMI and component. It does seem to accept a standard composite signal. We replaced the TV. They had me haul away the old one, and I'm trying to find out if it's worth repairing.
Interesting that it was right around the date you posted this question. I bookmarked this page to return if I find out anything.
