Sounds like you've got Windows, and that Microsoft would like to ensure you've got a legal installation. If you are legit, feel free to let them know by filling in the form, and sending it to them over the 'net.

I have missing my product key.

You will have to call the Microsoft Product Activation Center at 888-725-1047.
You will then be asked if you have the activation wizard up on your screen - respond with "YES". Finally, you will be transferred to an activation specialist. You will have to tell them what happened to you original product key (lost it, accidentally destroyed etc.) and you will have to tell them why you need the key. (Hard drive crash or whatever). They will NOT give you a replacement key if you tell them that you need it for a second computer - your are only licensed to use the key on one computer at a time! he may ask you for numbers printed on the CD . He will then tell you what you have to do to order a replacement product key.
You can also request a replacement product key from Microsoft Sales by calling 800-642-7676 and asking to speak to tech support.
If you have any additional questions contact me by clicking on the "Add a comment" link located under your problem description on FixYa. Also, if you believe that this information was helpful to you, please rate my solution using FixYa's "Solution Helpful" rating scale.

My 30 day free trial is up and my product key never worked...it s

Is this a windows product key? It should be afixed on the bottom of the laptop. If someone sold you a laptop with no COA (certificate of authenticity) then that individual broke the law. Windows XP has to be activated in order to use. After the 30 trial period, it will lock you out until it is activated. If it is telling you you have the wrong product key, you can call to activate. But, if you don't have a product key, you will need to either buy one or install a distro of linux.

Data is not sent to the monitor

The first thing to do is to pay attention for "beep" when your press the power button (or the reset button) to turn the computer on or reboot it. The beeps that a PC makes tells you a lot about the state of your computer. I couldn't quote for you the exact beeps to listen for, but your manual for your motherboard may tell you. Different beep pattersn tell you what is wrong with a computer.

I think for many common motherboards it is something like 4 beeps to tell you the graphics card has failed. Don't quote me, but that is at least along the lines of how it works if not the exact number.

If you're getting no display after starting your computer make sure you hear one beep. Then, listen for other activity. If you're computer has a floppy drive, listen for the 'floppy seek'. Otherwise, listen for hard drive activity. If it sounds as though there's activity along those lines but still no signal/display on the monitor perhaps check the cable between your PC and the monitor. Never hurts to just make sure the monitor is turned on of course.

If your monitor is on, and the cables are connected securely I wold restart the computer again and check for the beeps. I would be certain to count them and check the manual. Your graphics card may have failed if you hear abnormal beeps (more than one as one is usually the healthy indicator). If you hear no beeps then the PC is not even getting in as far as testing it's devices and could quite possibly be a motherboard failure.

My daughter has put a pass work on her laptop and now it wont let anyone in as it is not recongising the pass word. please help. she is the administrator.

I could tell you an alternative but this would be considered has hacking, I would suggest you take the password from your daughter. If still the problem persisting i would request you tell me the operating system and please give me a concent of proof that you arent hacking a computer as that is an illegal activity.
