You will need a small Phillips screwdriver, and about ten minutes. Unplug the laptop and remove the battery. With the laptop closed and upside-down, with the empty battery port facing you, remove two black screws from the irregular panel on the upper left. Lift the panel out and set it aside. Mount the new HD in the new bay that you have ordered using four screws that also came with your upgrade package.(or two--you can get away with two if you really want) Attach the mini-IDE adapter (that you also have) to the new HD, being careful to note which way the pins go into the slots...there should only be one way it goes. Press the adapter firmly into place. Slide the drive-and-cage assembly into the upper slot above the first drive, and lower it into place. Secure with clips or a screw, whichever your kit uses. Replace the cover, screws and battery.
Have fun.

In the same way as the first one is fitted.but u hve to adjust the jumper settings given on the hard drive to set the second hard drive as a slave.the jumper settings are most of the time provided on the harddrive metal cover.

for any further queries feel free to ask.
thanks

Just open the cabinet using screw drivers

and carefully look for the power cables.

just connect the power to the hard drive and the data cable to the mother board.

finished

My Fujitsu AMILO M3438G will not startup. I,ve changed the cmos battery but it still says that the bios is wrong. I've tried pressing the F2 key but then the monitor displays a "wait" page...

The lines on the screen point to a failing graphics chip, faulty VGA lead or more probably, the screen itself beginning to fail.
The bios problem is most likely due to a damaged bios chip, this is usually caused by attempting to upgrade the bios by flashing and the flash process going wrong, resulting in a series of instructions on the bios chip being incorrect. Changing the Cmos battery will have no effect.

You need to reflash the bios with a stable version, this can be done via floppy drive or USB stick, but you will need to obtain a usb floppy drive (I THINK the bios on the laptop supports this). On the floppy drive, you will need to install a windows 98 type boot disc
http://www.bootdisk.com/

and obtain the bios and flash file for this laptop
http://ts.fujitsu.com/support/downloads.html ( dos version)

On another computer, copy both to separate floppies, boot to the floppy drive, let it load the OS then swap floppies and load the bios flash from floppy

I believe that you can also get the ISO (cd image) which, as long as the laptop can read the cd drive, will be a better option.

If you cannot even get the bios to recognise the floppy or cd, then the problem will need a replacement bios chip installing to sort it out

Only ocationaly rebooting the system. most of the time it says operating system not found.what could be the reason. Please help.My system Fujitsu seimens amilo pro 2065

Hey, either a hard disk corruption or some missing/corrupt files - Solution: Format and reinstall your Operating system. If that doesnt work, maybe you need a hard disk replacement.
But before that, are you sure you haven't connected any USB drives or flash drives or an external hard drive when you computer boots up. That could be the reason. Solution: disconnect any such device before you start your computer.

My fujitsu seimens amilo pro 3515 wont boot. I turn it on and can hear it start to do something but then nothing on screen, only the sound of the fan running. Any idea what I can do?

check if battery is good or the adapter but if you sure the fan is rotating then problem maybe on hard drive or memory if you can do it, try to re-install it memory and hard drive and clean the memory or sata, ide slot. or check the operating system maybe it crash or file corrupt.

Fujitsu Siemens Amilo - Won't boot

could be hard drive failure,or you might try to reinstall windows before bying a new hardrive, but before any of that go to the BIOS and make sure that the boot order is right usualy hard drive first

Can i put a more recent Mobo as mine seems to be out of service? i mean, the PC is OK but nothing is working. could I rebuy another similar mobo to use back my PC? computer no longer boots no BIOS...

Laptop hardware is very proprietary and specific to each system.

To replace the motherboard, you would need the same model as the one you currently have in order to fit the laptop and have your OS recognize your motherboard.

Do you have any cd's in the cd drive or any floppys in? it could also be a usb flash drive or external hard drive. If its none of those check the bios settings and see if your hard drive is in the boot order. If its still doing it after that I would say it could be a corrupted hard drive or corrupted os on the hard drive. If all else fails try to do a system recover using the recovery cd's. if that fails its a bad hard drive.

Need to install a new hard drive into my son's Fujitsu Siemens AMILO Pro Laptop. Need to know which Hard Drive to purchase and how to fit / set-up. Any help you can provide would be gratefully...

If the laptop is less than 3 years old, then any 2.5'' hard drive will work.
Some laptop need slim hard drive, if you buy a slim 2.5'', this will mount on all laptops after 2004.
To get more details submit the problem on Fixya again providing information on your laptop's model.
