Hi i hit the power button on my ps3,first a yellow light blinks then it beeps and blinks red,what can i do to fix that

Yes this is sometimes called the YLOD or yellow light of death and the red light problem. You need to stop the heat build up on the main chips the GPU and the CPU.

Your options are to send it in or use a good repair guide to fix it.

Your PS3 system may be faulty.

Contact Sony for repair.

This is due to your fan inside your ps3. It has failed, or is failing and is causing a system failure. Unfortunatly it cannot be fixed. it will need to be replaced.

Hi, you may try the recovery options: The PS3 stores a copy of firmware drivers on the hard-drive and will reload any corrupt files. To access the recovery menu, do this: Make sure the PS3 is turned off Press and hold the power button on the PS3 it will power on then power off. When it's off press and hold the power button again until you hear two consecutive beeps. When you hear the double beeps immediately take your finger off the power button (if your system turns off before you get a double beep just try again and hold the button, it should double beep the 2nd time you try) It will ask for the controller to be connected via the USB cable, Turn on the controller and you will have access to the menu. Be aware that you might lose all of your previously saved data.
This should work only if you didn't see a yellow led light, before the red blinking. If the recovery doesn't work and/or if you've seen the yellow light then you have to call sony technical support. Regards, Peter

With your PS3 turned off, press and hold the Power button on the front of the PS3 for about 10 seconds (the system will beep as normal as it starts up but after 7-10 seconds it will beep again). The video settings should now be reverted. Doing this will also reset any theme settings. try this? seems to fix alot of issues.

its an error. hold down the power button till it beeps once. the hold it again till it beeps twice. The moment it beeps twice take your finger off and instantly hold it down again. your ps3 with give you 5 onscreen options, hit #3 and only number 3. that should fix the problem. You can also youtube "how to fix disk error on ps3" and people will should you how to do these stated steps.
