Question about DVD & Blu-Ray Players

6 Answers

I have a JVC DVD & HDD video recorder (DR-MH30S). I use it regularly to record to hd, but cannot dub successfully to dvd. The dvds work in that machine but not in any other dvd players, or even my laptop. Tonight, I tried recording straight to dvd which worked. Just wondering why I can't dub.

Nothing in the link suggested was usable. I have finalised the disks and am using DVD-R, which is the same one that I've burnt successfully straight to dvd. It's just the dubbing from hd to dvd that's the problem.

high speed copy may not be work" that you were dubbing from the HD to DVD

In most cases it is because you are dubbing a show you edited, which
you think will fit the blank disc, but is actually 2-3 seconds too long
according to the recorders algorithm. So even though it says High Speed
Dubbing is OK, when you actually give it the go ahead the final
internal check switches over to real-time re-encode. You can cancel the
real-time dub in progress and trash the disc if you want to. Then just
go back into the HDD recording, trim a small segment of it, and try
again. You can usually prevent the problem by looking carefully at the
disc capacity bar at the bottom of the screen just before you OK the
dub- if you don't see a *noticeable* sliver of black space on the tip
(i.e. the bar appears to be completely white), you are probably pushing
it and need to trim the recording by a hair to enable a guaranteed
    hi-speed non-transcoded dub.

so try to dub with low speed ...
    thanks for using fixya

Check when finished recording a dvd if you have select the "close DVD" feature in order to play to any other dvd player.
If dvd is not closed can't play to other dvd players.
Have a nice day. Thanks for using fixya.

Hi,

To my understanding, what you have described indicates that the DVDs that were dubbed needs a last step to enable them to be read in other players as well as your laptop. They have to be "finalized".

Hope this be of initial help/idea. Pls post back how things turned up or should you need additional information.

Good luck and kind regards. Thank you for using FixYa.

Its just maybe your dvd disc cant support what you have made to your dvd player and laptop. in your laptop try to download klite mega codec and install it on your laptop and see if it works. hope that helps!

Asuming you bought in the UK it is region 2. There is software to unlock the region code but this was being sold as a CD on ebay and I really can't recommend that you down that route. James

Dr-mh30s. stops dubbing after a few minutes.

I seem to have sorted this problem for me simply by unplugging power.
I actually left it for nearly a week before plugging in again, but I'm sure a day would do, probably less.
Dubbed 2 playlists since, no problem.
Nice simple solution if it works.
