The volume + switch may be stuck. Does the Vol+ switch click like the other switches or does it feel like the switch has collapsed?

Order a new one. It is difficult at best to connect wires to the pins without getting a short. New ones are cheap and available from a bunch of places.

Pioneer DEH-X6500BT amp & speaker problems

Depending on the car and your setup sounds like the amplifier is not wired properly or an issue with adjustments on your deck itself. More info on your sound setup would be helpful.

Deh-x6500bt cuts out at high volumn

I have the same problem, it's only when the bass comes in, and it starts to cut at half volume.

My wiring is correct and every possible problem to do with the car and its wiring have been eliminated.

-Apart from plugging the unit into another vehicles loom.

Audio drops out when I increase volume or an especially loud part of a CD plays. Is it worth fixing?

The breaker is probably kicking in--this is proper amp operation. You should verify that the speakers are at or above the specified impedance for the amp. Check the resistance from the connection at the amp to detect both potential speaker and wiring issues. Are you splitting the amp outputs? That would also cause this problem. Please let me know if you have more questions.

It appears that the output transistors have failed. To eliminate other possible causes, read through the following page. Let me know if you have any other questions.

Prot. light at High vol. (forget Bass CD)

You may have the speakers wired for the wrong impedance.

How many ohms per voice coil?

How many voice coils per speaker?

If the speakers are DVC, are the coils of each speaker wired in series or parallel?

Are the speakers bridged on the amp or one per channel?

The head unit appears to be defective.

No audio to speakers from deck, just to amp

It's possible (probable) that the head unit has a blown internal amplifier IC. Measure the DC voltage on each of the 8 speaker wires on the head unit. Place the black lead on the chassis of the head unit. Probe each wire with the red lead. All should read approximately 1/2 of the voltage on the yellow wire. If you get some that are significantly higher or lower, disconnect all speaker wires from the harness and measure again. If the voltage is still not ~1/2 of the voltage on the yellow wire, the IC is almost certainly defective.

For the external amp, you need to check the shield ground for the head unit. The following page shows you how.

Test RCA shield ground
