The term digital in this case is the mechanism used to tune in stations. Rather than making adjustments using a front dial to fine tune the stations, there are digital circuits that will lock in the station. The "digital" stations you are referring to now are the over-air digital broadcasts what use a different method for transfering the signals over the air. These stations now broadcast a digital stream of information rather than an analogue TV signal. If you are using an antenna for receiving these over-air broadcasts, you will require a converter.

Can't change channels stuck on 4 tried scanning it but it goes back to 4 won't change on the tv or a remote

When you run a scan the TV changes to every channel and tries to tune in a station. that is why it takes so long. If your TV is only finding channel 4, I would guess that is the only station strong enough for it to pick-up. You should check and / or replace your antenna and or antenna cable. Then re-scan the channels. with a better antenna, it should find more stations.
Most older Tube type TVs need a converter to pick-up digital TV, if you have a converter, make sure it is plugged in.

You should not be getting any stations without a digital tuner TV or a converter box.

The FCC site says this:

The FCC established September 1, 2015 as the date for the termination of all analog low-power television service. Since that date, analog television should no longer exist in the United States. Until that time, LPTV stations were allowed to continue to operate their analog facilities.

How do i set tv up with regular antenna

You are not stating what type of TV you have. If it is an older CRT or even some older LCD flat screens, it may only have an analog tuner. All TV stations today are broadcasting digital signals and if you do not have a digital tuner in the set, you will need an adapter box to use an antenna with the set. They were widely sold around the time of the analog-to-digital transition, but are harder to find anymore.

How do i recieve uhf channels

If your television is fitted with a UHF tuner it should just be that you need to re-tune your set. This is often the case between seasons. If it is not fitted with one, then you need to buy and install a digital set top box to receive all stations, (Analogue, UHF and digital) in your area.

My sanyo tv is not finding digital channels

Since a CRT (cathode ray tube) TV is an analogue TV (has a tuner) the only method of watching digital channels is setting it up as a monitor (channel 3 only) and using a cable box that takes digital and broadcasts analogue through the co-axial cable wire.

Will my TV receive digital signals without an external digital converter?

Hi, John.
No your tv is an older standard definition tv with an NTSC tuner..that was the old type tuner for analog stations.
You will need to get an ATSC digital tuner in order to tune in digital broadcasts.

Luckily, you don't have to spend hundreds to get one.
WalMart and several other stores carry inexpensive digital tuner converters that are in the $30-$40 range.

I hope this helps you out on getting stations picked up, as without the converter, your tv would only be good for hooking up a dvd player to it, or for video games.

Good luck tio you, and have a good day.

Sony digital tv KD 32DX40U wont pick up digital signal

The tv is a 2k model - I have the same one, digital is now 8k so it won't work digitally anymore.

2K Equipment
  • All 2K-only products will stop working with the introduction of the 8K transmission mode at switchover.
  • 2K-only set-top boxes cannot be upgraded, but 2K-only IDTVs can be updated by adding a current set-top box or digital TV recorder.
  • A full list of affected models is on the Digital UK website at www.digitaluk.co.uk/2kequipment.

Analog or Digital Tuner in TV?

ATSC is the name given to the new digital signal. NTSC is the current analogue signal. This is the standard name given to the American system of broadcasting.
