Sharp Aquos LC-32GA3E turning off and on

Hi, my Sharp Aquos LC-32GA3E TV occasionally turns itself off and then on again. I think its a temperature trip. I've cleaned dust from outside of inlet and fan exhaust vents on back which has helped but don't know where any sensor would be inside or whether its worth opening up to clean inside? Is there an obvious component to change?

Thanks for the suggestion. The TV is plugged into a Belkin extension block with say 8 outlets on it. When it goes off it goes onto standby and then turns itself back on after 30 secs or so. Could the extension cause that?

I cleaned a lot of dust off the back which was blocking the inlet vents and across the fan vents as well. I'm no TV repairer but I do build and work inside my PCs. Do you not think it worth taking the back off to clean dust out or is this unlikely to be the problem?

We have had ours plugged in for a whole week and now, every couple of hours, it suddenly turns itself off (although the green power light stays on) and then it turns back on about 5-10 seconds later.  There has not been an opportunity for it to get dusty or anything yet.  I will call Sharp in the am and see what they suggest.

This is not i a job you should do your self as it could do more damage than good this would be a job for a tv repair person.
QUESTION FOR YOU : are you running the tv straight from the power in the wall or a extension cord.
as an extension cord could definitely cause this problem too.

I have a Sharp Aquos # LC-45GD4U. It now suddenly turns off by itself and stays off until I turn it back on. This happens while watching live TV or playing back a recorded show. Ideas?

Check the ventilation fins on the back. Sometimes they get obstructed with dust and then heat builds up. The TV then shuts down to protect itself from overheating. You can use a blow dryer to blow it out.

TURN TV ON JUST PLAIN SCREEN (NO IMAGE), THEN HEAR A CLICK & TV TURNS ITSELF OFF- THEN ON AGAIN... CHANGED BATTERIES IN REMOTE & TRIED TO TURN TV ON DIRECTLY FROM TOP... NOTHING WORK. THIS IS A...

Do you see the backlight ever coming to the screen?

You will want to open the cover, disconnect the backlight inverter and try again to see if it will stay on even without an image.

If it does it's the inverter.

if it still shuts it's most likely (not guaranteed) either the power board itself or the main board.

A good tech should be able to test the power board independantly fairly quickly.

Problem connecting my PS3 to my Sharp Aquos LC-C3237U LCD TV

Your PS3 set itself above the max resolution your LC-C3237U. Most likely the PS3 is doing 1080P, but the highest the Sharp can do is 1080i. So do this:

1. Connect PS3 to TV (you can use the current cable or analog cable)
2. Turn on TV and set input to port PS3 is on.
3. Make sure PS3 is connected via correct cable.
4. Power on PS3 via power button and HOLD IT for 5 seconds (release after the second beep). It should automatically configure your PS3 to the TV's native resolution for all settings.
