Are you speaking of an internal IDE DVD burner, or could it be an external USB DVD burner or is it something else? Make sure it's connections are all seated properly and the device is turned on and has power to it, otherwise it wont be seen by your system.

Hi jacquie...
Check these steps..
1. Open the CPU cabin and make sure that the power cable and the data cable to the DVD burner is fixed correctly.
2. Goto "My computer".Right click and click "properties".Goto "Device manager".Make sure your DVD burner is mentioned under "CD/DVD ROM drives".Right click that to find whether your drive is in enabled or disabled state.
3. If your burner is not mentioned under it.Scan for hardware changes.

Hope this info will help u.Bye,Take care.

Will not burn a cd anymore, trying to burn a cd of pictures, keeps saying insert a recordable disc, I AM, they are all new ones I put in!

Try the "new" disks in another computer.
Or, try "new" disks made by a different manufacturer.

I suspect that your CD-drive has "died".
So, for less than $50, you can buy a brand-new CD/DVD device for a desktop computer.

CD/DVD will not burn DVD

Did you tell CDBurnerXP that you want to burn a CD? or to burn a DVD?

Does this happen with _EVERY_ "blank" disk that you insert, or just one disk?

Can your DVD-RW _read_ a previously-recorded CD? DVD?
If not, then that hardware is suspect.

P;ease help me. i use real player to burn cds. ive never burt a dvd. but i want to use it now and my player keeps telling me my cd and dvd burners are not detected. why are they not working please help me.

burning and cd requires a cd burner... the fact that you burn cds does not necessarily mean that you can also burn dvd's.. to burn a dvd you need to have a dvd burner unit installed. check on tray that comes out on you cd/burner if it says RW DVD.. if not chances are you only have a cd burner but is not a dvd burner.

Some disc brands just don't work with certain burners, and that can result in the said error. Did the store give you a different brand when they replaced your old batch? this error can also be a result from burning too much to the disc, or from trying to copy protected content. If you're burning movies, I would suggest that you close all other programs while burning, and burn at the lowest speed. Regardless to the error, you'll get a better quality result. Good luck
