I was going online after I ended a call and all of the sudden it turned off and on again, showed the motorola logo and then the screen went blue, that's as far as it gets. is this normal? My girlfriend mentioned a reset button or switch. Colls.

Re: Brand new had it for about 2 weeks.
After the bluescreen appears press: middle button > 1x down >
select > 5x down > select > 2x up > select > enter pin
(6 zeros if you don't know it) > select > top left key Follow the exact sequence and it will factory reset your phone. You may have to try this multiple times. Caution:This will delete all the contacts, msgs etc on your phone. So make sure you connect it to a comp and back up your data first! Good Luck!

sounds like the system image is corrupt.
you are gonna have to locate another image from the internet, plug the phone into PC via USB tether cable, and perform system update using either official software or perhaps a hacker app.
There is usualy no certain way to tell whats to blame on a bad phone without testing, but in your case I think that it is your phone that is malfunctioning. A low/bad battery either doesn't turn on or if it does it will at leat allow the phone to go on and then displays low battery before shutting off.
If you are out of warranty period, then you can easily flash this phone fo much cheaper than purchasing a new one. I would ecoment that you first take it o a repair place to be examined.
i'm so pissed i am in the exact same situation. i've only had my phone since late may, and haven't had too many problems with it. then last week it all began. i would set the phone down for a while, and whenever i would go to flip it open the screen would be either black or white. i then have to press a bunch of numbers or turn my phone off entirely to get it going again. yeah it's a piece of ****. ii've heard a lot of motorola phones have this problem. i'm going to take mine in and see if i can get a replacement. i also heard this just happens with a lot of flip phones, but i don't want to spend the $200 or so on a sidekick. blah. sorry i'm not much help, but i just wanted to let you know you're not alone.
Oh tell me about it!. Geat phone, but now mine just displays the telus logo as well, and I know i didn't get mine wet. Taking the battery out is the only way to turn off now. Of course this happened no more then a week after my repair agreement ran out. Had to buy another phone at full price, now the 8100 sits on a shelf with all my contacts on it and no way to get them :-(.
