Hi, I have a Subzero 690 side-by-side refrigerator/freezer. A few days ago we had a power outage and there was a power surge as well. When the power came back the freezer began working fine promptly, but the fridge isn't cooling at all, it's now at room temperature. The light is working fine and the control is registering an alert "vacuum condenser". I didn't understand how the condenser could be the culprit if the freezer was operating fine, but I took off the grill and cleaned the condenser and checked the condenser fan. The condenser fan does seem to be working fine and it is circulating air. However, this didn't fix the fridge problem. I checked the fan at the top of the fridge itself and that is not functioning at all (I held down the two fridge switches so that the door would be interpretted as closed). I read in another forum that one user was told to 'whack' the fan to get it working again. I tried this as well, no luck! In the electrical manual they provided, I saw mention of a refrigerator fan switch, would that be a way of starting it up? Any ideas on what's wrong and how to fix it? Apologies in advance, I'm new at this and am just trying to be as thorough as possible. Thanks!

You probably have a bad light switch.it's the one on the left up top. If you look closely you can still read the temperature in the display to tell if it's cooling.
Did u check condenser on the top behind the grill? If it's clean, check unit for evaporator freon leaking. Light....Possibly bad bulbs behind that plastic light cover or light switch - one of them located on upper portion of door frame.
Ok, I need you to feel the compressor top to see if warm or too hot to hold your hand on. You may have a problem with the start relay or start capacitor. You may need to remove the cover on the rear of refrigerator and unplug before sticking your hands inside. Your outage may have been a surge and took out the start capacitor. Either way I will need to know what to find to assist you better. Look for the model number of your admiral also so I can look over you refrigerator parts to get a better view what we're working with. I be around here most of the day waiting for you to answer, Thanks, Sea Breeze
you have a bad seal, Take a dollar bill and slide it in between the door seal and the frig. slide it up and down to see if if has drag on it. If you find places it dont touch loosen the screws and adjust the hinges till it fits tight. In some cases you might have to tweak the doors if they need it.
I would chech the components on the compressor. Take the cover off the compressor power terminals and inspect the relay for damage. The power outage is not a concern but the power surge could definately be the cause. hope this helps.
Unit has separate compressors and thermostat's. Clean the condenser, if it doesn't improve call for service, as there is a decent chance you will need sealed system work or defrost issue. If you need instructions on cleaning the condenser check subzero.com.also try advanceing the defrost timer as they mostly die in the defrost cycle. Behind the grille there will be a panel with a small hole in it with a screw above and below. Use a flat blde screw driver to turn the gray piece in th small hole clockwise a few clicks. If the freezer comes back on you will need to replace the defrost timer.
Check Thermostat. Proper Cleaning/Defrosting of fridge and freezer. Proper Placing and Distance from wall. If your hand bear the body temperature of that specific area then its normal. Contact technician to verify Freon pressure.
Check the fan in the freezer department. It has to run when the door i closed. Sometimes the door switch is bad. This causes the freezer coils to ice up so the cold air does not go through the coil to cool the freezer. Unplug the power cord for 1 hour or two hours. Then plug the cord in and see if the freezer gets cold.
If you replace the fan and clean the coils, and the refrigerator STILL does not cool, then contact SubZero or a service provider for an evaporator coil replacement. Units manufacturer before mid-2003 had copper+aluminum coils that would corrode and allow all of the coolant to escape. The (should be warranty) replacement is all aluminum.
Note the freezer does not have this issue due to the lack of liquid water.
