I found this on another site - after a lot of looking..... it worked for me!!

1. Turn on the dvd player.
2. Press eject
3. Type in 0000 on remote
4. A menu called region edit should appear.
5. Press 0 again for all regions.
6. Press enter
7. It goes to another region code menu
8. Press 0 again and then enter
6. Switch off dvd player and switch back on.

Thanks for the Question. Can you be more specific to what issues you are having.
Are you trying to hook up Digital to analog TV or Optical. HDMI?
If you can be more specific I can better assist you in getting this question resolved.

  • 1 Check the power. Don't be embarrassed if your problem is as simple as an unplugged power cord. It's better that you should discover this than pay a repair technician to come out to your house and find out.
  • 2 Isolate the problem. The main troubles that will crop up with a TV set are either no picture, no sound or both.
  • 3 Check the input setting on your remote control. If you have other devices connected to the TV, such as a video game system, those devices must be used with a different input setting than the input you use for watching programs or movies on a DVD or Blu-Ray player. Chances are, the kids were playing a game and forgot to turn the input back the way it was.
  • 4 Press the Input button on your remote control to return to the setting you wish to use. For example, the cable box might be connected to Input 1 and your DVD player might be connected to Input 2. Newer television sets have at least 3 inputs.
  • 5 Check the coaxial connection from your cable or satellite receiver to the television. The cable should be attached securely by twisting the round lock nut clockwise. Also check the power connections for the satellite or cable receiver. If either is unplugged, you won't receive a programming signal on the TV.
  • 6 Make sure the video cable is securely attached to the TV jack if you have a home theater system. The video cable runs from the Video Out jack on your home theater receiver to the Video In jack on the back of your TV.
  • 7 Check your receiver setting. Home theater receivers manage several components, so if you have the receiver set to operate the CD player but you are trying to watch a movie on your Blu-Ray player, you'll need to change the selection to Blu-Ray to watch the movie on your TV.
  • 8 Check the TV speakers to see whether they have been muted by accident. Press the volume button on your remote control or go to the Menu section and scroll down until you reach TV Speakers. Toggle left or right to turn the speakers on or off.
  • 9 Press the speaker button on your receiver to make sure your external home theater speakers are activated. Many home theater systems use external for their superior audio rather than the speakers inside a television

I have a Sylvania sst4324s tv and would like external speakers. The owners manual says the red & white audio output jacks are 2W 8ohms ea. Do I need an amplifier with speakers to make these work or...

At 2 watts, it would run very small speakers without an amp, but I suspect you would be more happy with a home theater amp. There are a number of surprisingly inexpensive models with DVD players in the same unit. Here is an example:

Where to plug in the home theater on the tv?

If you REALLY want to plug your tv into your home theater system there should be rca (red and white) jacks on the back of the tv that say "audio out" or "speaker out" thats your tv's audio output. which is where you would plug in the TV to your home theater system.

But there's really no reason to do this and its not the most desirable way to set u a home theater. Sound doesnt come from your tv, and therefore your tv shouldnt be plugged into speaker (unless you have old school wal cable) sound comes from your cable box, DVD player, VHS, Xbox, Ps3 etc. the sound comes from your source, and these sources should be hooked up directly you your home theater reciever

No Audio Out through the Optical OUT jack

First and foremost when the chance comes along buy a Harmony remote. Your spouse will love the simplification. A couple of things, On the tv with the optical hose connected and the other end in your hand, do you see the light. Its not a laser and eye safe. Should be a red glow. If not, implies two things the tvs optical is bad or it needs to be enabled via tv menu audio settings. If you see the red glow, then its a protocol issue. Verify your tv is setup on the proper audio mode that your receiver is wanting to see. Probably PCM. I am not directly farmiliar with the tv, but using the dish receiver as a reference (you know its working) set the audio options on the tv similar to the dish receiver. IE pcm, dts, etc.. Let me know thanks

How to use DVD player along with cable box wih this tv

The audio out jacks in the back of the cable box can support up to 5.1 channels of audio to a home theater system. Take the DVD player and plug it into the TV with only the video cable and the audio cables into the theater syste. If you have and questions you can ask and if pictures are needed than I can post them.
