Question about Computers & Internet

1 Answer

I have a 128MB USB Flash Drive from Simple Tech. My files have become corrupted and unreadable--Don't ask me how (I've no idea). I deleted everything, but cannot delete one folder, because inside there are these huge files with symbols I cannot decipher. Every time I attempt to delete the folder or files, it'll say the file names are too long or they've moved. Is my poor USB flash drive done for??

It sounds like you're trying to remove everything on your flash drive and start over from scratch. The characters that you are seeing are corrupted files. This is usually caused by power fluctuations when the computer is accessing the date on the USB drive. What you need to do is to run a complete Format on your USB drive to remove everything and reset the USB drive so you can use it again.

My USB Toshiba 8GB show only 4MB

hi,
some part of your flash drive sector might corrupt or bad.

the windows operating system automatically repair the flash drive or card , so that's why the unreadable sector or bad sector of the drive will be defrag separately from the operational sector, to be able to secure your files.

Usb write protected

The problem isn't with write protection. The file system has become corrupt and unreadable, or at least a section of it. If you can't reformat it then it's likely dying or dead. At least you should be able to recover some of your data however...

My usb is not being recognized when i put it in because either it is not updated or not working correctly? which one is it?

Files on a flash drive can be corrupted if it is not removed from the USB port properly.
Before removing the flash drive click on the Safely Remove Hardware icon and then click on the flash drive you want to remove and then remove the flash drive when the computer message says it is Safe to remove.
To restore the flash drive you may need to format the flash drive, but you will lose the data stored on the flash drive.
If you need the data on the flash drive these WEB sites may help: -
