Amana Side-by-Side refrigerator hot spot

I have an Amana Side-by-Side refrigerator that is hot along the front of the separator wall between the freezer and refrigerator sections. This model does not have an ice maker, there are no leaks, and the compressor and fan appear to be operating normally. The both sections (freezer and refrigerator) work fine, but the freezer does not seem to be working at the best efficiency; water in ice trays freezes, but ice cream becomes soft. The hot spot is hot to the touch, meaning that you cannot keep your hand on it without pain.

I have the same issue with hot center section of cabinet and warming around perimeter of entire frig. I know this is to keep condensation from forming and ice building up at seals but is it supposed to be on at all times??? I just noticed it in the last few weeks and my utility useage has gone up 50% this last month. I believe this is related to the heat.

Hi tanks for the question there are heaters at the spots you said were hot and those heaters are there to prevent moist air from hitting cold surface and create warer droplets from forming on those surfaces i would remove the back of the fridge and vacuum it out that should solve your problem thanks the appliance doc

I found on another tech site that the newer frigdes rout the hot side of the freon loop around these door areas instead of adding another electrical heater. The Amana that I have has this setup and the problem with it getting hot was a blocked condensor coil (the one under the frig) and an intermittent condensor coil fan motor. Have ordered a motor but cleaning the coils fixed the heat issue.

Is the refrigerator light bulb for the light inside the fridge right under that part of the freezer floor?
And if so, is the bulb a refrigerator bulb which should be no larger than a 25 watt appliance bulb.\if someone puts a regular 6o watt bulb in it's place it may over heat that separator wall between the freezer and refrigerator sections.

I believe you may find that this is the first thing you should check!

My 17 yr old ge profile refrigerator is working but has hot spots on sides and front. My cabinets are warm.

It may be the condener coil is clogged with dust. Use a vacuum & brush to clean it out.

The refrigerator side is not getting cold; the freezer side is working well

you need to replace the main control in the lower rear left side wall of the unit,part3 AP4334000 ,a sure sign of this is if you have recently blown out some lights in the refrigerator and you replace these and they don't light properly and the relay on the control board buzzes, not always, but if so then it is the control board at fault, and board will have a burned spot on the p.c. trace side

Amana Top Freezer Refrigerator is hot to the touch on the outside on the sides by the freezer. Still working fine inside. Is something getting ready to break inside?

The problem was the fan. It was hitting the metal enclosure and had stopped working. We made an adjustment and cleaned it and now it works fine and the hot spots are gone.

Black strip on front of wall between frig and freezer really hot

not supposed to be hot to touch, try pulling out refrig and vaccuming the coils, your probably FULL of dust and debris, also remove the kickplate from front and clean under there as well
