I have an RCA RTD3136 theater system, bought new in 2013. Worked fine for a few months, then started going out occasionally. I'd unplug the unit and reset, and it would work fine, for a while.

It sounds to me like the audio output transistor or IC is going bad,or the unit is overheating.Try blowing the unit out with canned air and relocating it so it can(breathe)<dissipate heat .

Subwoofer onkyo

A lot of these systems have options for switching off speakers and subs. You should look up the speaker settings options of the Sony. If you have the manual see what it says about connecting an active sub.

We bought our Denon 395 4 years ago. Is it set up for HDTV and IPhone (IPod) use? Also, how can we get a manal as it was lost in moving. Charles Barrett cbarrett1410@yahoo.com

It is an analog STEREO-only receiver so it is NOT compatible with multichannel or even digital audio. The TV is irrelevant.

Re: the iPhone:

Anything that has a headphone output can be adapted to feed an RCA cable pair for standard stereo to any audio device with a standard RCA input. Get a cable like the one described here:

http://www.monoprice.com/products/product.asp?c_id=102&cp_id=10218&cs_id=1021804&p_id=665&seq=1&format=2

and connect it into any available analog input EXCEPT "Phono". Turn the MP3 player volume up.

Hi t here, I have a Yamaha Rx-V363 Home Theatre System. As all my HDMI ''in'' ports are used I would like to connect my PS3 to it via an HDMI To RCA converter cable. I bought the cable but cannot figure...

you should not do that, your quality of the ps3 when then be horrible!, instead just go on amazon.com and look for ps3 component cables, and get those, you may not be able to go to 1020p but you will atleast get to go to 720p, but that is way better than the RCA' 420i, trust me! For further information, if you have an HDMI cable, then use a Addapter to convert it into something else other than that, it will downgrade the quality dramtically, stick to component and hdmi cables for now, RCA is poop!!

Sony PS-LX200H turntable plugged in to Onkyo TX-8211 inputs

After a few years it may be time to consider a new cartridge for the turntable. The current one may have given up the ghost. You might also want to check that the output cables from the turntable to the receiver are firmly plugged in. They may have come loose if someone was moving things or cleaning. Yet another thing to consider is the input on the receiver may not be working. You can test this by plugging in a cable with RCA plugs on both ends and touching the pins on the unconnected end. If the input's okay you'll hear a hum.

Probably it's time for a new cartridge. They don't last forever, especially if you, like me, are someone who still plays a lot of old vinyl!

Please take a moment to rate this solution a fixya if it's helped get you going, and thanks for asking here!
