If not powering how do you know HD works? I would begin by removing power supply for this desktop (indicated here) and look for puffed up filter caps there.

I try to turn my computer on but no luck, the little green light in the back is on, does that mean anything?

The green light indicates that the power supply is standby, if you press power botton and PC doesn't turn on, the simplest failure could be a defective power botton, also at the worst case you could have a defective power supply or motherboard.

I press the power botton and nothing happens

It's possible that the spring clip behind the power button is broken and won't allow the power button to fully make contact. That's a fairly inexpensive fix. Or, some of the cables/wires could be loose, but I'm thinking (from your description) that it may just be the spring clip.
