some files should not be deleted. depends on which folder you were deleting from. you should only delete files downloaded by YOU nothing else is safe to remove...that goes for any computer device.
tablets have apps that do the sytem work these days...be careful. you may have to 'reset' it but that may not work if you removed a system application.

How to connect two computers using a crossover cable.

Hi.

You can use a crossover cable to share files and folders between the two computers.

A crossover cable looks exactly the same as any ethernet cable, but its internal wiring is reversed respect to the regular cables used to connect computers to routers or switches.Crossover cables have the 1st and 3rd wires (counting from left to right) crossed, and the 2nd and 6th wires crossed, thay can be recognised because the word Crossover is printed on top of the cable.

732d0de.gif

Before proceeding ensure that the cable you are using is a crossover. Crossover wiring isdifferent. By using an ordinary ethernet cable you will not be able to extablish a directconnection between computers.

To use the crossover you will need to disconnect any other cable connection to computer ethernet cards. Naturally both computers must have a wired network adapter installed .

After connecting the crossover, you will need to configure the network connection.

Turn off both computers, connect the crossover (cat5 or cat6) cable, and turn back on computers.

Ensure that all firewallare turned off, and on Vista answer yes to all requests of authorization for the new network.

On both computers go to system properties, and ensure that the two computers have the same workgroup.

Second step is going to Sharing and Security, in system properties, and sharing the files and folder that you want to transfer.

Once the folders are shared you will see in My computer (Computer on Vista) the folder shared from the other computer. Simply copy and paste the files.

You may be asked to restart computer after each step.

If after sharing files and folder you want to share Internet connection, then you will have to assign two IP addresses that are in the same range to the two connected computers.
An IP address is a series of numbers from 1 to 256, in the format XXX.XXX.XXX.XXX . The two IP addresses must share the first three numbers to share the internet connection. In the real case, you can set the IP adresses to 192.168.0.1 and 192.168.0.2.

My Hitachi Touro 4TB external hard drive get stuck every time I try to transfer large files. How do I fix that? The format is NTFS and the files are 4g and up.

External hard drives are popular portable storage devices because they allow you to back up files such as documents, music and videos, and transfer files from one computer to another. While external hard drives vary in storage capacity, they are ideal for storing large files such as videos and animations. Files of this nature consume volumes of hard drive and memory space and are best stored in external hard drives. Whether you are using Windows or Mac OSX, transfer large memory consuming files to your external hard drive quickly and safely. Connect your external hard drive to your computer using the Firewire or USB cable that came with your portable storage device. If its transferring to slow the usb lead might be at fault or you might need a usb 3 card which makes data transfers much faster USB 3 card will provide more power when needed to the device to gain maximum throughput and conserve power when the device is connected but is idling http://blog.premiumusb.com/2010/09/usb-2-0-vs-usb-3-0/ these can be purchased on Ebay cheap and easy to install http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/PCI-e-PCI-Express-USB3-0-Card-new-NEC-720200AF1-chipset-/330608109325?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item4cf9c7670d for roughly $9 or $10free postage Power on your drive. Some external hard drives do not have a power button, because your computer powers them on automatically using the Firewire or USB cable. Click the Windows "Start" orb and click "Computer" or "My Computer" to launch Windows Explorer if you are using a Windows PC. You should see your external hard drive in the "Drives" section next to the "Local drive (C:)" drive. If you are using a Mac, you should see your external hard drive on the desktop. Double-click your external hard drive to open its hard disk window. If you have any content on your external hard drive, you should see it in this window. Drag files from your computer to your external hard disk's window. Because you are uploading large files, make sure their memory s do not exceed your drive's total memory. Your computer shows a status bar displaying the upload progress for each file you are transferring to your drive. The upload time varies depending on the of the file. Close the hard disk window when you finish uploading the files you want to store, and then click the "Safely Remove Hardware" icon on the System Tray next to the clock, if you are using Windows. The hardware removal window launches. Click your external hard drive's icon in the hardware removal window, and then click "Stop." When prompted, disconnect your external hard drive from your computer. Drag your external hard drive's icon from the desktop to the trash bin on the dock if you are using a Mac. Disconnect your drive from your computer. If you right click in the bottom toolbar select applications to see whats running at the time when transferring the files might be a virus or malware if you see something running that should not be select end now also processes to see what ticking over in the background

Hope this helps b>

No sound

If the sound is not working please check the following:

Try Playing different type of sound files and identify if the problem is with all the files ? (Play a video online on youtube or so and a music file from your system)

If not then it could be software problem with the audio software like window media player and updating the codecs would fix the issue( download k-lite codecs from google and install it)

You should also check if the system sound is put on mute

You can do so by clicking on the volume control icon on the bottom right system tray or by openning the control panel then going on to Hardware and sound and then to sound (adjust system volume)

Else its most probably device or driver issue

Check first if the audio device is enabled

For this you got to click start and click Run or type RUn in start search and once you get the RUN box type in devmgmt.msc...this would open up device manager windows

In device manager check Sound Video and game controler, check i it has a cross mark (X) or an Exclamation mark (!) if so then right click and enable it if disabled or update driver if it has got exclamation mark

Even if this does not help then you will have to load the sound driver either from driver and application CD that you got from Dell or online from you computer manufacturer website

This would solve the problem

Thanks

I need to burn dvd with phptos and vidio on the one disk

Hi,
  • Click on "Start" in the lower left-hand corner of the desktop screen. Then select "All Programs," "Accessories" and "Windows Explorer."
  • Open the DVD burner tray and insert a blank DVD or CD. Close the tray.
  • Navigate to the hard drive that has the files to be burned. Click on the files or folder to be burned, and drag to the DVD burner drive icon in Windows Explorer.
  • Select "File," then "Write these files to CD." Ensure that all the files that need to be written to the CD or DVD are on the list in the temporary files area that can be found in Windows. The CD writing wizard will open; follow the instructions in the wizard.
  • Remove the CD or DVD when finished and apply label. Close drive tray.
Thanks, SF
