Question about HP Pavilion zd8000 Notebook
I've had my HP for about 3 years. Just the other day, I was playing a game, and it crashed. A blue screen of death appeared for about half a second, then the computer turned off.
I started it back up three times to no avail. The fans and lights and all kicked on, but the screen just remained blank. No BIOS. Nothing. On the fourth try, it mysteriously booted and started up. I ran all my virus/spyware/adware/malware scans, ran CCleaner and Privacy Mantra, and defragmented my drive. I set a boot-time defrag and restarted. Now I'm back to square one: it doesn't start up. No BIOS again. Nothing...again...
I checked my hard drive and my RAM. Both are in perfect order. I've dreading checking my MoBo, partly for the extensive disassembly process, partly for fear that I need a new one (damn things are pricey).
I was wondering if there was something I overlooked. Or am I really going to have to replace the motherboard?
Sounds to me like you have tried about everything there is to try. I would say to try to check the power supply, if thats not it then I would say its time for a new motherboard.
