I bought this printer from walmart about 5 months ago well now it wont let me scan anything it says to go to start menu and click all in one but the all in one is not there. so i just unstalled it and put the cd in and downloaded it again and it still is the same. what should i do. im trying to scan pictures to put on my pc. thank you! alex
This is unlikely to be of help, and I do not have this problem (my 2210 is used only offline) but I have had similar problems with some other products because I use a nonstandard character size setting in my PC. It seems that many products are only tested with the default operating system configurations, and that larger character sizes push some screen features outside the boundaries of the window. If this is the case for you, you might drag your mouse carefully aroun the right and bottom edge of the menu. If your mouse position indicator changes from a pointer to a hand or some such, click there.
This goofy approach has worked for me!

Please refer to the Lexmark X5495 user's guide. If your using Windows, you can access it by going to the Start menu -> All Programs/Programs -> Lexmark 5400 Series -> User's Guide. Scroll to page 93, for the steps on how to scan. You can also download the user's guide from the Lexmark website for free. Just click on this linkLexmark X5400 Series User's Guide. I hope this information has been helpful.
1 Make sure the printer is connected to a computer, and both the printer and the computer are on. 2 Load an original document facedown into the ADF or on the scanner glass. 3 Press Scan Mode. 4 Press or repeatedly until the destination to which you want to scan appears. 5 Press Start Color or Start Black. 6 If you want to save the scan, from the software application, click File and then Save As. 7 Enter the file name, format, and location where you want the scanned image saved. 8 Click Save.

There are a couple ways to trick it into accepting the cartridge. You can put a different one in, take it out and then put the filled one in. Or you can find a refill kit with instructions on what contacts to cover with tape and you have to do it 2 or 3 times to get the printer to reset. Sometimes you can shut off the computer and printer for 20 min and start it up again. Or you can get the sledge hammer and smash the stupid printer before it sucks up your life savings and vow never to buy from a company that profits from causing problems that they tell you can only be solved by using more of their overpriced solutions.
It seems you have some piece of paper in the carrier.
Could be just a very small piece somewhere in it... remove the cover and take a very close look. Check all rolls if they are loose or if something is locking them.
This is not so much a solution, but I have a lexmark 5400 printer -and I am also having problems with "alignment." I just replaced the cartridges an now I am getting an error message saying: "Alignment problem, remove tape from cartridges, check paper and then press the check-mark button." There does not appear to be anything wrong with the cartridges (there shouldn't be - they're new), but the cartridges will not center when the cover is lifted. So I can no longer print anything, and I can't check the cartridges - help!
Any information anyone can provide would be greatly appreciated. I'd hate to replace the printer, it's still in very good shape.
