Can't open yahoo messenger - Computers & Internet

if messenger is having a problem yahoo maybe is in an update mode if still not working just open your yahoo email and see if you have other issues so you'll know you can still open your email not just from ym also try and scan your computer for any virus or malwares

Try to scan your computer for possible viruses and spyware. If done with this and still cant open yahoo messenger, the next thing you'll do is to uninstall and reinstall your yahoo messenger.

If YM (Yahoo Messenger) is not opening or not working properly, I would suggest you to uninstall and reinstall it to your computer. Pls follow the steps below.
Uninstalling/removing YM:
Click Start> Control Panel>> Add and remove Programs, click.

On this page, look for Yahoo Messenger and click Remove, stay there until the page reopens with no Yahoo Messenger there. ReStart your computer, do not miss this step!
To reinstall YM to your computer, Visit this website http://messenger.yahoo.com/download/ and click download now.

Try to remove yahoo messenger and re-install it again.
If you can't uninstall it try this:
1) Log out of Yahoo Messenger and close yahoo messenger completely [ it should not be running under task manager as a process ]. 2) Open Start Menu >> Control Panel. 3) Double-click on Add or Remove Programs. 4) Locate Yahoo Messenger in Add or Remove Programs. 5) Click Change/Remove button. 6) Restart your computer, if it doesn't restart it automatically. 7) Open Yahoo folder in Program Files (C:\Program Files\Yahoo) and delete it. 8) Open registry through Start Menu >> Run and type regedit now navigate to the HKEY_CURRENT_USER\ Software\ registry entry, delete Yahoo, and exit the Registry.
If the above method does not work for you, try the following methods to solve the problem.
1. Open Program Files >> Yahoo Messenger and find the file UNWISE.exe file. Double click this to run it. This will un install yahoo messenger.

I assume you are accessing Yahoo! Messenger from your Computer. Well, if you've signed out, simply open the Yahoo! Messenger and sign in again using your Yahoo ID and Password. You should have a Yahoo Messenger icon similar to this on your desktop...


When it is opened, you'll see the sign-in box which should look more or less similar to this:


You can also open the Yahoo! Messenger from the Taskbar, double-click the Yahoo!Messenger icon on the taskbar to open it.. (reddened icon below)


If you can't find it on the desktop or on the taskbar, click "Start" > "All Programs" > "Yahoo! Messenger" and open it, or you should see the Yahoo!Messenger icon in the Start Menu Program lists.

It is possible that someone has accidentally uninstalled Yahoo! Messenger.

Try going to My Computer > C:/ > Program Files > Yahoo! > Messenger and here look for an icon of a smiley face :) that reads Yahoo! Messenger. Try to open that. If it doesn't work or if it's not there someone messed with your files.

In which case go to Yahoo.com click on Messenger on the left hand side and reinstall the Yahoo! Messenger application.

If you're Yahoo messenger is working fine with other accounts, try restarting your yahoo messenger.

Try this
-remove "@yahoo.com"
-check your password and username
-don't forget caps lock
-If you can't open other accounts. try reinstalling yahoo Messenger

you might need to uninstall the program, and reinstall it one more time , pls go to yahoo's website and install the latest version.
