Question about GE Dishwashers

1 Answer

After a power outage, my GE monogram dishwasher beeps continually. The controls are not responsive. I've tried turning off the power to it (by the fuse box) but the noise resumes when the power comes back on.

Hi, I have a GEGSD5500. The power went out overnight and the next time I went to use the dishwasher I get a continuous beeping with the light above "normal" (clean sensor selections section) flashing. I flipped the fuse in the fuse box but that did not do anything. Nothing else is lite on the "status" column. Any suggestions?

Unfortunately, if you lost power as a result of a lightning storm or a power surge, there is a good chance that your dishwasher was exposed to a power surge that may have damaged the control circuitry. During these types of events, there is no way of knowing which device was affected unless there are visible signs of carbon or a burnt smell on the ircuit boards... so it will be a hit or miss proposition to repair it. You may have no choice other than to have an appliance person come in and diagnose the problem. Assuming they have a full complemnent of hardware with them, they might try swapping out individual piece parts until the right one is found... Good luck...

Dead after power outage

The breaker may have failed electrically while continuing to function mechanically. It may be necessary to replace the breaker, something GE should have been able to tell you without referring vaguely to "an act of nature" which it wasn't.

After a power outage my dishwasher has a "Er" code. I downloaded the manual and it says nothing about that specific code. Please help! "Er" code GE Profile Dishwasher GSD4930X66WW

the er means error. you may have a damaged control from the power outage. try to turn the power off to the unit for 30 min then put it back on. see if it resets it.

Try pressing two control buttons side by side in the center of the panel. The result will light all the buttons on the panel. A test mode will follow before it resets itself.

Buttons not working, beeping sound

HI. This is a control fault beep. Kindly unplug, or shut off the appropriate circuit breaker for five minutes. This will drain the main control, and reset the logic chip. Once the five minutes has passed, re-introduce power to the unit, and try to operate the dishwasher normally. If the error continues, replace the control sector asap.

Power outage occurred. Upon power back on Dishwasher has high pitch tone and no lights and it will not do anything but make sound.

A power surge has occurred unfortunately. this surge has fried the control module and, you will need to replace this module asap.

I would check the motor as well. it may have took a hit as well. test the continuity of the element as well.

Continuous beep after power went off and on

I'm the one who posted on May 23. I tried turning off the breakers and it was still beeped when powered back on. I ordered a new touchpad and control module. When I replaced the touchpad, the beeping was gone, but not all the buttons worked, so I changed out the control module, too, and it works:) I'm going to put clear caulk along the top to prevent spills from leaking through the front panel.

This is an unusual failure. The humming could be a motor (or valve) that has power but isn't moving. But that doesn't explain the (absence of) lights on the control panel. I suggest you call a professional.
