In most cases the printer driver software can have errors while being in use or is shut down. So to reset remove your printer from the PC and uninstall the printer software. Now reinstall the printer software and then connect the Printer ONLY WHEN PROMPTED, to be detected as a new hardware as it will be installed. Now check the printer properties to see the ink levels.
Activate head cleaning before a test is taken. Use the test print to align the scanner and reset. If this wont work there is fault within and must be checked.Sometimes it is possible that the head is not reacting to the need of the PC command or can be an issue with ink drying or poor ink cartridge contacts. Sometimes the power supply unit must be checked as a poor SMPS unit can deliver low voltage and cause issues to the printer function. Check all the leads and connections of the mother board , the tags to the ink cartridge. Also check the mechanical settings of the ink cartridge , if jammed or tight remove motor and manually free the drive before it is set back.

When I send a fax black vertical lines appear on recipients end...what can I do?

Try making a copy and see if there is a problem with your machine. If you see the vertical lines then the problem lies with the scanner of your machine.

Big black line on paper

clean the scanner, lift the auto doc feeder and underneath is a scanner, look to see if there is white out or some other obstruction and clean with a rag soaked with alcohol

Copies leaves lines when put through the feeder, but not on the glass .......have cleaned and sprayed air can everywhere I can think of The Hp Printer is HP 3055 All in One printer

Most likely a fax has been sent or a page copied with 'white out' (Liquid Paper), still wet on the page. As the page feeds over the scanner, (a narrow strip of glass that runs across the width of the page along the feed path) the wet liquid paper comes off on the glass as a thin line and dries. Thereafter, when copying, scanning or sending a fax, the scanner light does not go through the liquid paper streak and the result when printed is a thin vertical line that runs the full length of the page.

If this is your problem: follow the path that the paper travels when sending a fax or making a copy, until you find the scanner (narrow glass strip). Take a clean, soft cloth and a small amount of methylated spirit (or white spirit) and remove the now dried Liquid Paper from the glass. Clean the whole strip ensuring that the glass is left clean and dry.

Unwanted verticle line on fax copies

Most likely a fax has been sent or a page copied with 'white out' (Liquid Paper), still wet on the page. As the page feeds over the scanner, (a narrow strip of glass that runs across the width of the page along the feed path) the wet liquid paper comes off on the glass as a thin line and dries. Thereafter, when copying, scanning or sending a fax, the scanner light does not go through the liquid paper streak and the result when printed is a thin vertical line that runs the full length of the page. If this is the cause you will also find that faxes you send to other people will also have this line (although faxes you receive are not affected by this problem with your machine).

To fix the problem: follow the path that the paper travels when sending a fax or making a copy, until you find the scanner (narrow glass strip). Take a clean, soft cloth and a small amount of methylated spirit (or white spirit) and remove the now dried Liquid Paper from the glass. Clean the whole strip ensuring that the glass is left clean and dry.

When you send a fax, the other person only gets lines on there copy, not the paper that i faxed

Make a copy with your fax machine. If your scanner is bad you should have a similar problem making copies. The same scanner is used to make a copy as is used to scan and send a fax. If the copy comes out bad your scanner is either dirty or bad. If you can see your copy but it just has a few lines running vertically up and down the page then you need to clean the scanner glass. This is a small strip of glass in the port where you feed it your originals.

Vertical dark line on copies

That is comming from the scanner. If cleaning it well does not help, then it is one of the segments in the CCD assembly within the scanner that is the problem. That would requiring replacing tha scanner .
it could be a small scratch on that screen also.
Only thing you can try would be use some rubbing alcohol and a regular piece of 20 pound copy paper to clean the scanner glass/screen vigorously.
