Question about Compaq Presario 5000 PC Desktop
You have a registry problem! that could be result of a hardware problem.. there is a good article of things you can try, it's usually suggested for you use the same xp cd that you use to install the os, otherwise is risky business using a different cd... you may want to find a cd that has the same service pack you have before starting... if you can't get that cd, read my suggestiong below
I strongly suggest the following:
first of all if possible, take your hard drive out, using and enclosure or another machine try to back up your data so it things go wrong or it's just taking too much time, you can just wipe out the hard drive and start fresh with a clean install, you may find it this to be the easiest and fastest way... back up your data regardless then start troubleshooting.
