This unit has issues with the ink detect sensors. Have you tried a brand new cartridge? Other wise you may need a technician to solve the issue directly.

Brother Printer - Keep complaining about No Ink

Hello.

From Brother support:

"The message #NO CARTRIDGE# may appear if one or more of the
cartridges are not properly installed or an ink cartridge is
defective, such as air bubbles, or empty. Verify all the cartridges are
installed correctly and they are not empty or defective by following
the steps listed below:

NOTE: Cartridges that have already been installed are no longer
vacuum-sealed; it is very important that the cartridge remains upright.
If the cartridge is removed and placed on its side, air may be
introduced into the ink supply tubes, requiring repeated cleaning
before print quality is restored.

a. Lift the top cover to the open position until it locks securely
into place.

b. Then, remove all ink cartridges by pulling the white plastic hook
toward you and pulling the cartridges up and out of the machine.

c. Because all the ink cartridges have been removed, the LCD will
prompt you to install each color cartridge.

d. Important!! Reinstall the ink cartridge(s) in the order of the LCD
is instructing you too. Press down FIRMLY on the top of the cartridge
until it is fully seated. Push the white plastic hook towards the
cartridge to verify it is fully latched over the top edge of the
cartridge.

e. Close the top cover. The LCD will ask you if you have changed the
cartridge to new. Press 1 for yes and 2 for no. Press 1 for yes for
each color. The LCD will alternately show CLEANING and PLEASE WAIT. When the Brother machine completes the cleaning cycle, the LCD returns to Standby mode.

Hope this helps.

My mfc 210c is unable to clean and therefore I

Unable to clean means the waste ink is full, about 1 hour labor and $20.00 part. With the new machines running about $100.00 it's probably not worth the repair.

I don't know how to change the ink bought this printer from a guy at work no manual

Lift the scanner cover from the right-hand side of the MFC until
it locks securely into the open position.

If one or more ink cartridges are empty, for example Black, the
LCD shows Ink Empty Black and Cover is Open.

Pull the ink cartridge hook toward you and remove the ink
cartridge for the color shown on the LCD.

Open the new ink cartridge bag for the color shown on the LCD,
and then take out the ink cartridge.

Remove the cartridge covers.

Each color has its own correct position. Keep the ink cartridge
in an upright position when you insert it into slot. Press down on
the ink cartridge until the hook snaps over it.

Lift the scanner cover to release the lock. Gently push the
scanner cover support down and close the scanner cover.

If you replaced an ink cartridge while Near Empty was
displayed on the LCD, the LCD may ask you to verify that it was
a brand new one. Example: Did You Change Blck? 1.Yes
2.No. For each new cartridge you installed, press 1 on the dial
pad to automatically reset the ink dot counter for that color. If the
ink cartridge you installed is not a brand new one, please be
sure to select 2.

If you wait until Ink Empty message is displayed on the LCD,
the MFC will automatically reset the ink dot counter.

If the Install message is on the display after you have
installed ink cartridges, check that the ink cartridges are
installed properly.

Hope that helps you!

MFC 210C Ink Problems

Steve,

did you watch the display after replacing the cart?
Very often the machine asks if you have changed the cart and demands an answer (1 for yes).

You can try to do an update of the firmware, too. Go to www.brother.com , choose your country and then your machine. Download a small update tool and run it.

If it aint getting better:
Do unplug from power outlet (even though you have done already) wait 10 Min. leave scanner cover open and take all carts out. Plugin to power again and leave scanner open. Wait uintil machine gives a warning signal. Reinsert carts and close cover: now watch the display and give always the answer YES(1).

Cartridge

Chances are the new cartridge is defective.
Check the expiration date on the cartridge, and even if it is not expired, I would suspect the cartrigde is bad, dried out, not allowing the ink to lower.
That is the most frequent issue with your problem

Brother MFC 210C NOT Not Printing Color Properly

If the cartridges were in the wrong slots, it shouldn't take very long for it to clear up. What I don't understand is how it even ran with them in the wrong slots, but that's not the point.
Having corrected that problem, Have you run many prints after that? You may just have some remnant ink not completly out.
If thats not it, remove the cartridges, unplug the machine and very lightly dampen a lint free cloth with some alcohol and clean all the contacts in the machine and one the cartridges.
Then again run all the set up modes and see if that helps.
You should in no way have ruined the printer my having the inks in the wrong place.
One other thing you can try, And I do this to ink jet printers but hesitate to mention, but it does work.
Unplug the machine and remove the cartridges. Place some paper towels under the print head where the cartridges and slowly trickle some soapy cleaner, Like Fantastic into that area, then flush it out with some rubbing alcohol. Dry the area gently as best you can, and let the printer sit an hour or so to let any slight amount of liquid remaining to evaporate. Those inks can build up and clog that area causing lots of problems.

Brother MFC 210C All-in-One Ink Cartridges

near empty message is a reminder: plz buy a new cart (but do NOT change until EMPTY). You still can print.

the ink left in an empty cart keeps the system alive when some ink is neede for the automatic cleaning cycle.
If you print until this cart is really empty air will get into the tubes and ph. That leads to faulty printings.
brother had made sure that the amount of printable ink can be consumed. The rest is for service.
