Upon powering on, press the F8 button to load other options, choose safe mode only and hit enter.

If you were able boot windows under safe mode, you can try to do system restore or uninstall any program you've recently installed which cased the problem.

If you were NOT able to boot to safe mode, you need to do full system recovery and re install the OS. Insert the recovery disc and press F12 upon powering on to load boot menu then choose CD/DVD rom.

Hope this helps,

    Hi fnelly.

Remove the battery and the AC adapter. Let the unit rest for about a minute. Then plug only the AC adapter. do not put yet the battery. Then try to power on again the unit. See if you can pass the toshiba splash screen. If not, do this:

Shutdown unit, Press and hold the F8 then power it on and still hold that F8 button down. It should give you advanced options screen and try to boot to safe mode.
If still nothing happens. shut down unit and this time hold down F12 while powering it up. It should lead you to Boot menu. Check if you can see HDD, If you can see HDD, you need to do full system recovery like what I mentioned on the previoous post. But if you can't see the HDD on the list, the issue is with your Hard drive, your system board could not detect it that's why you're stuck at the toshiba splash screen.

Or you may be on the Toshiba splash screen where you can see icons down below that you can select. Icons should be like a circle that looks like a disc(this is the CD/DVD rom), another one is 3 circle plates on top of each other (this is the HDD), others would be like a stick (this is the USB).  If your on this screen, insert your recovery disc and choose the single circle (CD/DVD rom) then press enter. It should lead you to recovery options.

    Hope this helps.

Have a toshiba satetllite laptop and i have error code 0xc000000f but was not givin a recovery cd and the old press f9 is not working. any ideas?

try going into safe mode with command line utility enabled. (F8 on bootup). in command console type chkdsk /f /r and enter y for yes at the prompt. wait for it to finish, it may take a while. If that doesn't solve it try typing fixmbr. If that doesn't work, manually load the os to boot from cd-rom. tap F1 while rebooting. in the BIOS go to boot options. in boot options change first boot device to cd. put the cd in the tray, save and exit your settings. The comp will boot from the windows disk. follow the prompts.

Sounds like you have a problem with your power adapter, battery and or charge port ... I would suggest you let the unit "charge" overnight and try again.
