The heater element stopped working in the middle of the drying cycle and now will not heat up. What are things I need to check?

Check that there is 240vac present. Check the thermal fuse on the blower housing. Finally check the condition of the element.

Maytag MDE8600AYW takes way too long drying clthes

either your house vent is plugged, or the vent in the dryer by the blower is plugged. when the vent is plugged, even partially, the moisture is not leaving the dryer. It will take a long time to dry, and the top of the dryer will get hot when the vent is plugged. Clean the house vent and check down below the lint trap by the blower, then it will dry fine again.

We had a power outage the other day, and now our Maytag MDE308DAYW dryer just buzzes when we try to start it. At first, I unplugged the power, let it sit a few minutes, and plugged the power back in, and...

Hi fixya. I solved the problem myself, it was pretty easy. I just unplugged the power; let it sit for a minute; plugged the power back in; then I opened the dryer door and while manually holding down the door switch, I manually spun the dryer drum and simultaneously my son hit the start switch - you need three hands to perform this procedure - and it started running! Then I let it run for at least an hour, and ever since that it has started perfectly well.

Maytag 3000 Series front load gas dryer (Whirlpool) - No lights, no digital display, not able to turn on or start. Yes, unit is plugged in to AC outlet. Yes, AC voltage is good at 120V. Yes, circuit...

OK everyone, my ears are red. Over the weekend, I gave this another shot, since my warranty repair appointment isn't until next week.

I opened the dryer door (the drum light is off, indicating no power at all) and went to the circuit breaker box, and flipped the washer/dryer breaker back to off and then re-set the breaker again.

When I got to the laundry room - the drum light was on!

So I powered up the unit, and ran the machine. It ran for about one minute, and then went off. So I went back and re-set the breaker again.

Visually, the breakers did NOT LOOK tripped - but flipping the thing off and then on to re-set the breaker worked.

This time, the dryer is working fine. The bad part is: I need to replace the breaker for the second time. So this is NOT a defective dryer, it is a bad electrical supply. I will call the electrician back to make him fix this right. . . . .

Thanks again for all who responded. This is a new unit, purchased on 7/7/2009.

Our dryer ran for about half an hour and then stopped running I opened the door shut the door and you can hear the timer but when you go to push the button to start it it will not start. Any suggestions?

sounds like the overheat circuit breaker popped for safety. when the unit cools it will work again. most likely problem is your vent out is blocked, or lint filter full. once i found a birds nest on the exaust outside lol.

Older washer/ dryer with no power

Check to see if power cord is loose at connection inside dryer. ONLY after UNPLUGING! Held on by three screws inside.
