Question about IBM ThinkPad T40 2373 Notebook
(posted by dgm9 on Nov 15, 2007 - http://www.fixya.com/support/t258222-replace_lcd_screen_hinge_ibm_t41)
I have just read your excellent description of the hinge replacement and I have the exact same problem, except that it is the left hinge on a T40 and am considering a DIY. After looking at my T40, before investing in parts, I am wondering if the replacement steps for the Top cover assembly are the same on the T40 and also if any removal of the Bottom keyboard area is required. I ask only because I am seeing a white wire exposed next to left hinge after it separated from the Top cover.
I have found replacement hinges (part # 91P8388 available at IBM/Lenovo for $27.50, Thinkpad-Parts for $20.00 (used) and eBay for $15-$30.
Thanks in advance for your help ...
