I had this same problem and tried everything posted on the internet to get it working. Nothing was working...

I had the harddrive replaced at some point but some internet ipod drive saver guys. Got it back working fine. Then my battery wouldn't stay charged very long, so I bought a replacement and swapped it myself. Worked fine initially but shortly after got the lock icon in the top left, regardless of the HOLD switch position.

After trying everything else, I opened the case again, and moved the switch on and off using the exposed connector on the inside rather than by the external part of the switch. While doing that, I instantly saw the screen light up on the table it was laying on. I turned it over and the lock was gone! So apparently, there must have been some issue with the HOLD switch that by moving from the inside was able to fix.

Good luck!

You need to Restore your iPod touch with iTunes

- Simply open up iTunes
- Connect your iPod
- Click on "iPod" in the upper right corner (v.11)
- Click on "Restore iPod" in the first panel
- Save your backup
- iTunes should get you through the rest of restoring

NOTE: After the Restore, you have to configure everything (Wi-Fi, Settings, Syncing Apps, etc..)

Is there a way to restore my ipod with my tablet?

Follow these steps to reset an iPod Classic, or in fact any iPod with a Click Wheel.

Make sure the iPod Classic isn't simply paused or locked.
Check the screen for a lock symbol.
If you see a lock, unlock the Hold switch.
You should be back in business.
Put the iPod on a flat surface to stabilize it.
Slide the Hold switch on, then slide it off.
Hold down Select and Menu together for several seconds with two fingers.
Make sure your finger isn't touching the Click Wheel.
When the Apple logo appears, release Select and Menu.
If the iPod Classic doesn't reset, repeat the above step.
If that still doesn't get your iPod Classic to restart, plug the iPod into a power adapter or a computer and see if it starts up.

How do i reset an ipod

Step 1:
There are many iPods each having there own specific method of restore them WHAT MODEL ? The iPod A1136 is the fifth generation iPod from Apple that uses a click wheel to scroll through your device's media library, and may occasionally lock up when you attempt to play a song or display a photo. This error error occurs when the hard disk is unable to access the information and stalls while opening a file. A reset of the device usually corrects the problem, as it clears the device's memory and any errors. Check your iPod's buttons to determine if the cause is due to a hardware error before resetting the device, as the problem may be due to the iPod's hold switch. Slide the hold switch at the top of the iPod to the right, and slide it back to the left to ensure the switch is in the off position. Hold down the center button in the click wheel, and at the same time hold down "Menu" on the click wheel. Continue to hold the iPod's buttons until the device's screen shuts off, turns back on and shows the Apple logo. Plug the iPod's connector cable into the dock connector on the bottom of the iPod. Plug the other end of the cable into your computer's USB or FireWire port to charge the iPod. Wait at least two hours for the iPod to charge. Launch iTunes on the computer, and click "Controls" of the iTunes menu. Click "Eject iPod" in the sub-menu to disconnect the device. The iPod takes four hours to completely charge its battery.

Only turn on de logo apple no more

Hi, NOTE: First make sure that your iPod's hold button isn't on. This is the little switch at the top left corner of the click wheel iPod that you can move to "lock" the iPod's buttons. If this is on, you'll see a little orange area at the top of the click wheel iPod and a lock icon on the iPod's screen. If you see either of these, move the switch back and see if this fixes the problem.

If the hold switch wasn't the problem do the following:

Move the hold switch to the on position and then move it back to off.

Hold down the Menu button on the click wheel and the center button at the same time. Hold these together for 6-10 seconds. This should restart the iPod video. You'll know the iPod is restarting when the screen changes and the Apple logo appears.

If this doesn't work at first, you should repeat the steps.

If this doesn't work, you should try plugging your iPod into a power source and let it charge. Then repeat the steps.

If this doesn't work, you may have a bigger problem, and ought to get more help.

Slide the switch on the top of the ipod to where it shows white instead of orange. If it is already off hold, then you may have a broken hold switch.

Ipod 30GB

There may be 2 solutions for this problem:

The 1st solution:
The first thing you should do is locate the lock button on your ipod. Second make sure it's unlocked, lock it and wait for one second and then unlock it. Finally hold the inner Grey circle button in the center of the ipod until you see the apple logo appear on your screen.

The 2nd Solution:
Plug in your ipod and click on your ipod in your itunes library. By doing so you should be on your contents tab. Click on the settings tab and then click on restore. This should restore all your defaults on your ipod. Before you do all this; make sure you back up1.gif your ipod library if you don't currently have them in your itunes library.

If this solution helps you out please give rate me and leave a comment. Thank you...
