Question about Bose SoundDock digital music system Docking Station for iPod - White (35703)
Songs are displayed on the iPod screen and it looks like they are playing, but no sound is coming from the SoundDock.
I had the same issue, it just stopped working today for no reason. Since it's out of Warranty and Bose charges too much to fix it, I took the bottom off, cleaned all the contacts, applied some dialectric silicone compound to the contacts, put it back together... and it works great!

The problem of a charging but not otherwise responding dock was corrected (in my case anyway) merely by blowing compressed air into the connecting yoke to clear the accumulated gunk.

(1) If I had my iPod in the dock, disconnected and reconnected the power it would play. If I pushed either of the volume controls on the Bose system, sound would disappear. Unplug and Replug the Bose power supply, sound returned. (2) Using the remote, if sound was playing and I pressed a volume control, sound would disappear. Unplug and Replug the Bose power supply, sound returned to default volume. (3) With sound, hit pause then play, no sounds.
I saw these solutions but had no compressed air to clear out the Bose side of the connection or the iPod Nano (2nd Generation) side of the connection. Inspection of the Bose side of the connection showed that it was quite clean. I suspect that the problem was with my iPod. I used an iPod USB connector, inserted and removed this several times from my iPod. I hoped this would help clear the connection pads inside the device. Worked. Back to the good life with music

There are the following causes in order of probability (Most probable first):1. The docking connector damaged / faulty2. No charge indicates power supply problem or connector.3.
