Songs are displayed on the iPod screen and it looks like they are playing, but no sound is coming from the SoundDock.

Ipod is playing the song but no sound from docking station. Battery in remote checks out fine, all power cords connected okay. When I stop the Ipod from playing music, it immediately goes into charging mode so the dock has power.

The ipod charges but I can't get any sound out of it.  I just bought a new battery for the remote, but I still can't get sound.

I have the exact same problem as you and the other 2 responses have expressed. This actually happened to me in the middle of use. I used the remote to change a song and it switched to a new song but the sound stopped and then the remote also stopped. I wondered at first if the dead remote was related to the lack of sound but it does not make sense for it to be directly correlated remote to sound. If I plug in my headphones while it is docked I get sound from the headphones but not from the speakers. The iPod charges but no sound comes out.

Samething, tried everything in the troubleshooting, from using different ipods, connecting one source in the audio input and reseting the system by removing the power source. Still no sound. Did anyone find a solution?

I have the same problem, but before it went out completely , it started to go bad in phases. Like, I had to put a book behind the Ipod to it would lean at the right angle to play. I think the problem is with the connector b/t Bose and Ipod - it charges but is not receiving the music. They will repair for $100 and have to mail it back to them, but that seems expensive. I wonder if anyone else can fix it?

I had the same issue, it just stopped working today for no reason. Since it's out of Warranty and Bose charges too much to fix it, I took the bottom off, cleaned all the contacts, applied some dialectric silicone compound to the contacts, put it back together... and it works great!

The problem of a charging but not otherwise responding dock was corrected (in my case anyway) merely by blowing compressed air into the connecting yoke to clear the accumulated gunk.

(1) If I had my iPod in the dock, disconnected and reconnected the power it would play. If I pushed either of the volume controls on the Bose system, sound would disappear. Unplug and Replug the Bose power supply, sound returned. (2) Using the remote, if sound was playing and I pressed a volume control, sound would disappear. Unplug and Replug the Bose power supply, sound returned to default volume. (3) With sound, hit pause then play, no sounds.
I saw these solutions but had no compressed air to clear out the Bose side of the connection or the iPod Nano (2nd Generation) side of the connection. Inspection of the Bose side of the connection showed that it was quite clean. I suspect that the problem was with my iPod. I used an iPod USB connector, inserted and removed this several times from my iPod. I hoped this would help clear the connection pads inside the device. Worked. Back to the good life with music

There are the following causes in order of probability (Most probable first):1. The docking connector damaged / faulty2. No charge indicates power supply problem or connector.3. Foreign matter in the connector. (Clean and inspect)4. Sound processor failure.click here to see the diagnostic video for the Soundock

Bose sound dock doesn't work at all

If this is the original SoundDock, the power supply in back is 4 pronged and a pin could be broken. If it makes a quiet thumping sound, then just make sure the power supply is not plugged in upside down (it's easy enough to do).
If this is the SoundDock II or the SoundDock portable, it's hard to say why this would happen, so you should call Bose on that one. There should be an indicator light that tells you when it has power..

No sound from Bose SoundDock

I had this problem on my SoundDock. My iPod would charge on the dock just fine and when I played my iPod on the dock, it would look like it was playing, but have no sound. Since my Bose was out of warranty, this is what I did to fix it. #1 Unplug the adapter. #2 Unscrew the four large screws on the bottom of the speaker and the three small screws under the dock. #3 You'll see one long ribbon connection and one very short one. Check to see if the ribbon connector coming from the front of the speaker system came loose from the green board. You'll only be able to see 1/2 an inch of it sticking out, and it's not easy to plug it back in, but it's possible. Just take your time. #4 Carefully put everything back together being very careful not to let the ribbon fall out of the plug again. #5 Make sure to plug in the DC adapter the correct way. There's a very subtle difference, but there is a difference. There are four prongs - two are square and two have slightly rounded corners. If it's not plugged in the correct way, the dock will have a static clicking sound. On my adapter, the words "DC power" are on the top of the plug.

Bose docking statoin

They both use the same speakers, my personal opinion deems they are both the same. However the second SoundDock charges via USB pin, so it is future proof for future iPods.
