Re: i phone and i tunes
It sounds like either a faulty usb socket or a driver issue with usb on your system... do you use microsoft update to keep your system up to date and the drivers current? if not you should do so. If you have more than 1 usb socket on your computer try one of those... remember itunes/iphone/ipods use usb version 2 and may not work properly if you have the older usb 1 standard on your computer

First uninstall the drivers for this phone and reboot the PC. Then reinstall as per the following link. After the final reboot, connect the phone to the PC through a USB cable and the PC should register it and load its drivers automatically.

Have you tried holding the power button and the home key together. Hold until unit reboots and once apple logo appears, release both buttons. If this doesnt work try this below.
Try launching I Tunes on PC without I phone connected. Then make sure I Phone is switched off. Now hold down the home key (square at bottom of screen) Whilst still holding home key plug in your I Phone usb lead. I Tunes should identify you I Phone after few seconds and prompt " detected I Phone in recovery mode" (or similar) it should then prompt 'yes' or 'no' to do recovery. Select yes and let it start. This should resolve this issue as it did on my 3G version. If still no luck search FAQ's section on www.apple.com Hope that works/helps?
You have to leave it on itunes for about 15 mins, let the iphone download the software itself, once the software update is done, the usb and itunes logos will come again you have to leave the phone in the usb for a while and then it will work.
Has it ever worked, as it sounds like it needs to be docked on I Tunes to 'unbrick it?'
If it is black background and white cable coming from bottom of screen then it needs to unlocked on I Tunes.
Download latest version of I Tunes from www.apple.com
Once I tunes is set up link I Phone to your computer (with I Tunes running) via the usb cable that came with your I Phone.
Follow prompts within I Tunes and this should get everything going.
if your phone does not start at all, then press power button and camera (sym) button together for 10 seconds almost then plug in the usb cable and remove your hand from the camera button (sym) it should give you a three color screen, then follow instructions in the first link above.
1.Remove the battery, SIM card and the memory stick from the phone and then replace the battery but DO NOT turn it on. 2.If you're operating Windows XP or earlier use your PC suite however with Vista you might have to download Sony Ericsson's Update Service software from the Sony Ericsson website 3.Then you'll have to download: WontanClient server, open it and allow the program to update. NOTE: you must leave the login box empty 4.Plug the USB cable into the computer but not the phone 5.Press start in Wontan 6.Press 2 and 5 Simultaneously 7.Plug your phone in and hopefully the phone will to reboot 8.Take out the battery for a few minutes and now your phone is hopefully working again. ---------------------------------------
