Panasonic AG-1970 power up problems

Hi,
I've got 3 Panasonic AG-1970 SVHS recorders, and one of them I've hadunplugged for over a year. It was working fine the last time it wasused. I tried to power it up today, and when I do, the redpower light comes on momentarily, about a`second, I hearsomething from inside for about the same time, then the power lightgoes off, The clock is flashing 12:00 and the Tape icon is on, so iknow I've got power. Any ideas???
Thanks

SOURCE: AG-DV1000P that powers off when tape is put in.

I have seen a couple of these decks that had broken solder connections at the rear AC power connector.  the main board has to be removed to access the connections.

SOURCE: miniDV tape stuck inside

sounds like a defective cassette housing, but i have seen problems with jvc decks and camera when tdk or maxell tapes were used. the lids on these tapes seem to get stuck in the cassette housings in jvc equipment. jvc even recommends that tdk and maxell tapes be avoided.

Hi - I have a panasonic ag-7330 SVHS deck. It lights up but does absolutely nothing. The Video Rec Servo light is blinking constantly. Any ideas?

It could have a timer record present that needs to be cleared. Otherwise it could be the mode switch playing up. But that too can be caused by physical damage inside the unit, thus setting the mechanism in the wrong position. In other words it thinks it is in record mode when it's not!

It's at least 26 years old - unlikely that it can be serviced after this length of time.

timing the AG-1970 is best done with a service manual. it has several diagrams in it which show how to time the gears. it may still be available from Panasonic.

Panasonic AG-DVC10 Startup Issue

Most likely cause for this problem is defective power switch and defective record start/stop switch. The DVC7, DVC10 and DVC15 all use similar switches, and I have repaired all three.

Any have the Panasonic ag-455 SVHS manual?

Hey I think it would difficult to find a manual for a AG-455, though being very similar to the AG-456 (which seems to be more popular) would you be happy with the manual for that model? I downloaded the AG-456 manual from somewhere last year but unfortunately can't remember from where. I do have the PDF file if you're interested though.. Would be happy to send to you if you're interested. Cheers
