When Windows Vista starts, it puts up the general "hardware found" message about this monitor, but when I try to use the disk or let the computer search for an installation, it tells me access is denied.

I'd tell the computer to not give me the message, as the monitor clearly works without being "completely installed" but that selection makes it stop working properly and I have to reinstall the driver to make it work again. It seems to be a software problem instead of a hardware issue. Any help is appreciated.

    tells me access denied

mine says access denied and will not allow drivers to be installed

my monitor goes in the sleep mode and will not come out unless computer is turned off and back on . Sometimes this does not work. Also wil not let me install drives, it says error and access denied.

Same as everyone else. My Monitor was purchased separately, but my computer is an HP and it came WITH setup info for the WF1907 as the monitor is an HP
    product also.
I can use the monitor with the plug and play and should probably call it a day, but I am the ONLY user and THE Administrator. Why access would be denied anywhere is what is concerning to me with the computer. I've got others working on these issues. When I get the answer I will repost. Good luck!

I have the same problem but if you set it as a generic pnp monitor you can still use it and mine had a dvd playing issue until i did that.

  • Anonymous Mar 09, 2009

I have the same problem but it seems to function just fine. Yet everyday, when I bot up, I get the message that the monitor driver needs to ne installed and when I click OK, I get the access denied, monitor not installed. I have not used my system to play DVDs. yet. Will I have a problem in the future? I hate to make any fixes that might cause other issues. Mine was just purchased (Monitor and PC) as a package from Best Buy.

Ok so i was searching around the internet and found a similar problem with another monitor so for giggles i tried there method. This is the website where i found it : http://social.technet.microsoft.com/forums/en-US/itprovistahardware/thread/d7c0e5bd-2fcf-48ff-a79b-c157014fc821/#page:3

The Secoind wntry has a download. Download it then extract the files to the desktop. Dont worry if you get errors when the program runs it will fix them, if they come up just press enter to keep going. Once the program completes install the driver again and it should work as it did for me.

If you cant get to that website heres the post from it:
"Ok, once again i checked updates for HP My Display/Drivers, and found this:
http://www.portrait.com/dtune/hpw/enu/support_help.html

Here is a direct link to fix for "Access Denied" issue (HP LCD Monitors & Vista):
http://download.portrait.com/DRVFix.zip

Download DRVFix.zip. The fix contains 3 files including this readme. All must be in to the same folder.

  • readme.txt - This file
  • RestoreDisp.exe - Executable required to restore permissions. DO NOT RUN THIS FILE
  • DVRFIX.exe - Run this file in Administrator mode after reading the instructions completely
To perform the fix do the following:
  1. Extract all files in to a folder on your desktop
  2. Open the folder, right click on the DVRFIX.exe file and choose "Run As Administrator"
  3. Follow the on screen instructions. When complete, you should be able to install your drivers

If you find this helpful, please let me know.

I fixed this issue manually (from registry), about month ago.
But gladly i found this help file, by mistake. wf1907 lcd monitor driver - emotion-1.gif

Check the monitor on another computer to verify if using correct setting for this monitor will allow a clear image to be displayed.

In windows 7, the monitor should be detected and installed automatically.

What version of windows are you using?

I have downloaded driver for philips 170c monitor but when i go to zip file there is no driver there

These are the steps you need to follow to install the driver: Download from the link below:

Philips 170c Monitor

It is a zip file so you will need to unzip it into a separate folder. Once the files are unzipped you need to locate the 170C8.inf setup information file. Once you have located that file right click on it and you will see the option to Install. Click that and it will ask you to open it. Choose open.

If that fails you can do the following:

Installing a new device

1.Open Windows Device Manager. In the Device Manager make sure the device you're attempting to install is not already listed from past install attempts. If the device is found highlight it and remove it from Device Manager to prevent any conflicts during the install.
2.Once Device Manager looks ok reboot the computer.
3.As the computer is rebooting an install new hardware wizard should appear if Windows detects the new hardware using this wizard you should be able to point Windows to the folder containing your drivers either on the CD, diskette, or the folder containing the files you downloaded.
If Windows does not detect any new hardware open Control Panel and double-click the Add hardware icon to run the hardware detection wizard. During the steps you will have an option to tell Windows you have a disk containing the drivers for your new hardware device, at this point Windows to the directory containing the drivers for your device.

Once drivers have been installed reboot.

Vison Monitor ( device installer error)

First you need to uninstall the driver for your old monitor. Then install the driver for the new monitor. With both drivers installed your computer is confused and shows the conflict as an error message. Hope this helps.

HP w1907 monitor driver software will not load

"Access is denied" is the key here. It sounds like your login in windows does not allow you the privileges for that installation. Try logging in as an administrator and re-installing. One thing bothers me though, if this was purchased as a system, why would you need to install drivers? that should have been pre-installed.

My monitor

Hi,

Try inside your Display Properties. Settings tab, Advanced button, Monitor tab, Properties button, Driver tab, Update driver and follow on screen instructions. Eventually it would ask you where the drivers are located (CD drive?).

Hope this be of initial help/idea. Pls post back how things turned up or should you need additional information.

Good luck and kind regards.

Thank you for using FixYa.

No driver appearing in Vista

Sorry this is late but:

Unplug the monitor from the PC and then boot.
after you hear the windows starting sound wait for it to load everything up (say 1 min) and plug in the monitor

Windows then plays the "i have found an unknown device" sound and begins to search for drivers

Wait 5 min for it to do this and then shut down the computer with the power button.
Re boot

Monitor should work.

Note: you must be connected to the net for this to work.
