Printer complains: Insert Paper fully into MPF

Insert Paper Fully into MPF


We've removed the paper and turned it on and off but it continues to complain. If we leave the paper out, it tells us to insert paper. If we put paper in we get the error message.

    Nothing is mentioned in the small LCD read out other than the two lines mentioned above.

    I do not know of any error code.

More then likely, the MPF roller is worn and simply no longer picking up paper from the tray. This would need to be replaced.

Pull the paper tray out and look for any obstructions in there.  Check for broken parts as well such a sensor.  Sometimes they get out of position as well.

After a paper jam occurs in the rear cover of a Dell Laser Multi-Function Printer 1815N, the printer will not resume when the jammed paper is removed. This is the normal behavior of the printer as there is no sensor on the rear cover of this printer.

To open the back cover and remove any stuck paper, perform the following steps:
  1. Open and close the front cover.
    The jammed paper may automatically exit the printer. If the paper does not exit, go to the next step.
  2. Gently pull the paper out of the output tray.
  3. If you cannot see the paper in the output tray or the paper does not move when pulled, open the rear cover.
  4. Skip to step 9. If you do not see the paper, go to the next step.If you see the jammed paper, push the two blue pressure levers up and remove the paper.
  5. Release the blue strap, the rear cover stopper, and fully open the rear cover.
  6. Unfold the duplex guide fully.
  7. While pushing the fuser lever to the right, open the fuser door. NOTICE: Make sure to unfold the duplex guide before opening the fuser door, or the fuser door may be damaged.
  8. Pull the jammed paper out.
  9. Return the levers, fuser door, rear cover stopper, and duplex guide to their original position.
  10. Close the rear cover.
  11. Open and close the front cover.
    Printing automatically resumes.

Printer isn't working correctly


To resolve this condition:
  1. Remove the power cable from the printer.
  2. Remove the paper tray from the printer.
  3. Remove the paper from the paper tray.
  4. Verify that the paper you're using has KODAK XTRALIFE Paper or a "G" inside a circle (for G600 series printer docks) on the back. Do not use 4- by 6-inch inkjet paper.
  5. Insert the paper tray into the printer.
  6. Open the color cartridge door, then remove the color cartridge.
  7. If the color cartridge ribbon is torn or damaged, replace it with a new cartridge.
  8. Install the color cartridge, and verify that it is fully engaged.
  9. Close the color cartridge door.
  10. Connect the power cable to the printer.
  11. Wait for the printer to initialize (the paper may eject automatically).
The printer's lights turn on. And after a few seconds, most or all of the printer's lights turn off. The printer will make noises while cycling. If a paper is stuck in the printer, while the printer is making the noises, pull gently on the paper to try and remove it.

My printer is only printing half the picture, one half comes out great and the other half has nothing

Dell 3000CN Laser Priner


Removed the fuser unit and also removed the left hand side panel to access the gearing mechanism.

Manually rotated the gearing a number of times thru 360 degress. This appears to have cleared whatever was causing the printer to detect a paper jam although there was no obvious sign of bits of paper or even dust build up.

Paper Jam 075-134 (states Open Reg cover and Check MPF)


The problem might be that it isn't picking up the paper. This will register as a jam if the paper does not reach the next paper sensor within a certain amount of time. check the feed assembly and check the paper to see if there are any marks on the edge from the pickup roller.
