I didn't have the same problem, but i know how to reformat it. first turn the player off. then switch the lock (the switch on top of the player) on. then press and hold the record button. (the one on the side of the player) then plug the player into the computer (then you can finally let the rec button go). the e250 should say "recovery mode" and you sholud see a new file on the computer. click the file ONCE. then scroll down and click new. then another file should pop up. name the file fmt. yes it DOES matter what you name it. it will erase ALL the data besides the time and date, but if you have tried everything else you pretty much have no choice.
hope it works.

when you did the format did you do it with a tool or directly through windows?

Go to this link and get the sansa firmware updater and run it. this will help your player get back to where it was. working!

Delete songs from my sansa e250

You can only delete songs from this player when it's connected to a computer. There are two modes of adding songs to this player. You need to remove the songs with the same method you added them. Alternatively format the whole player - but make sure you do it the way Sansa recommends, not by formatting in windows.

Cannot delete the songs on mp3

I do mine through Windows Media Player
1)Plug in Sansa
2)Open up Windows Media Player and wait for the Sansa e250 icon to show up under the library. First time, might say 'What device is this' or 'Autoplay'-for autoplay, you click 'sync media files to Sansa e250 using WIndows Media Player'
3)When library shows, click 'Sync' if it is not already there.
4)Just simply click and drag the songs you want from the computer library to the list pane on the side.
5)Once your done, click 'Sart sync'

TO DELETE
1)Plug in
2)Wait for the icon under Library in WIndows Media Player
3)Go to Songs under Sansa e250
4)Right click desired songs and choose Delete. You only want to delete from Sansa e250-nothing else

Can't remove Rhapsody songs

Delete them through Windows Media Player or reformat the device:
Format - Erases Everything: Connect your Sansa player to the computer and open Windows Media Player. Click on the Sync tab. Pull down the drop down menu underneath the Sync tab by moving your cursor over the Sync tab and left clicking on the little black arrow underneath the Sync tab. Highlight "Sansa 1GB" (wording may vary slightly), and then select "Format." - this should erase everything.

Sansa e250 computer problems

Try using Windows Media Player instead, and see if you get the same result. If it loads in Windows Media Player, then the problem is with WinAmp and not your Mp3 player. When you say it loads half-way, do you mean it loads half the songs and then shuts off? Is the Sansa running on low battery? WinAmp has some kind of update released in the past week - did you download the update, and then experience the problem? It's probably not this, because other users have had the same problem that you are reporting since at least Christmas 2007.

The following is an advice from another Sansa user, so I haven't been able to verify it myself:
"I have to have WinAmp open and a song playing then connect my player and then it will work fine. If I just connect my player then start WinAmp it crashes"

If all of the above fails, reformat your player and start over from scratch. Let me know how everything works out - this is an issue that not even the Sansa website seems to have an answer for.

Whas the best way to delete songs off the Sansa 250e? ie. "bad tracks"

The songs are in the wrong format or have expired licenses

There are 2 ways to format an mp3 player - if you were formatting the mp3 player from "My Computer," then try reformatting from Windows Media Player instead - I have a "tips and tricks" entry on How to Format an Mp3 Player for details

If that doesn't work, then double-click on My Computer, double-click on the Sansa player, and go to the various folders that it lists - music, voice, etc. Delete the songs ONLY - do not delete the dat, bat, ini, inf, or other system files

My sansa e250

If you want to delete EVERY track off the player, then reformat the player in Windows Media Player - it's a shortcut - see my "tips and tricks" on formatting mp3 players

If there are artist, album traces, then you need to click on every subfolder under your device in Windows Media Player and delete every trace that way - tedious, but effective

I can't delete songs!!!

Reformat the drive on your Sansa. Open My Computer then right click the drive that corresponds to your Sansa and choose format. It will be the one that says "removable drive". This usually works, just make sure you keep a backup of all your music in case this happens again.
