Question about PC Desktops

1 Answer

I have been on my space for a year, I have put layouts on the page in the about me section, they alway display only the table and not the background picture, and the themes in the table layouts come out all wrinkled, I have deleted and tryed different codes from different sites and even created my own, I still have the same problem. I have done friends pages with no problem. I even deleted "everythin" in every section and still NO background and wrinkled tables, this last time I made my own and the backgroun comes up for a second or 2 then reverts to a grey background. Im ready to give up on my space, but dont want to lose all my friends and family on there, this is my last effort to save my page, what is wrong with it can you help me?

Maybe you can post a link to your myspace page, so we can see what you're referring to. It's probably got something to do with conflicting CSS code in the pages.

I WENT TO THE FAQ, AND THERE WERE PPL THAT HAVE HAD THE SAME PROBLEM, IT WAS THAT THE CODES I WAS PUTTING IN HAD HTML CODES AND CSS CODE, WHICH I GUESS MEANS CUSTOM CODES THAT WOULDNT TAKE , I NEVER FOUND OUT WHAT A CSS CODE WAS OR WHICH ONE IT WAS BUT I FINALY FOUND A CODE THAT WOULD TAKE, SO I USED IT. AS I TRY AND FIX MOST OF MY PROBLEMS ON MY COMPUTOR THREW TRIAL AND ERROR, ITS NOT MUCH OF A LEARNING TOOL, BECAUSE I NEVER KNOW EXACTLY WHAT I DID, I JUST DO IT AND IT WORKS AND I DONT HAVE TO PAY A DIME, THERE ARE ALOT OF PPL OUT THERE WILLING TO HELP WITH OUT COSTING ME A DIME BUT WHEN IT COMES TO MORE SEROUS PROBLEMS, I WOULD TRUST A PROFESSIANAL RATHER THAN SOME ONE ON LINE. ITS JUST FREE WITH OTHER PPLS HELP OUT THERE.BUT IT IS GOOD TO KNOW THAT I HAVE FIXYA IF I RUN INTO A SERIOUS PROBLEM THAT NEEDS MORE TECH SUPPORT I CAN TRUST, THANK YOU FOR YOUR TIME....TEE

How to change wallpaper on HP windows 8

After you click on the desktop app and can see your desktop (don't confuse it with the apps background, you can't change that), right click on it, chose "personalize" then in the window that comes up you'll see "Desktop Background" at the bottom and click it.
From there you can use the "Browse" button on the top to find images you want to use. You can choose multiple images to load and set how often they can change.

Tip

Make your system run faster-3

Control What Runs in the BackgroundCaveatAn absolutely essential prerequisite is the absence of malware and adware. Unless a machine is free of these pests, there is no point in discussing other performance topics. Also, make no system changes unless you know how to undo themWhat background processes areThe computer is always carrying out processes that are not visible as programs on the Desktop or the Taskbar. They come both from application software and from Windows. They are not overtly obvious and are said to run in the background. Many of them are essential functions but some may be useless (or even harmful if malware is involved). The problemThe typical home PC today is likely to be stuffed with background programs and services. Windows XP is quite good at handling a lot of simultaneous processes but too many can consume enough resources to noticeably affect system performance. Also, some programs are poorly written or consume so many resources (Norton SystemWorks comes to mind) that by themselves they create a problem.Where unnecessary background processes come fromThere are several sources.
  • It is all too common for software companies to pile on a lot of unnecessary features that load into the background at startup.
  • Even Windows XP has a default configuration that loads a lot of services that typical home users do not need or use.
  • In today's climate a substantial amount of protection against malware and crackers is required. This involves several programs running in the background. These programs are often resource-intensive and require careful configuration. They may conflict with one another if default settings are used. For example, it is easy to end up with three different programs checking your email attachments. Personally, I prevent a lot of functions from running automatically and instead use a regularly scheduled manual routine.
SolutionsAs mentioned on the previous page, the measures to take are covered in great detail on pages elsewhere on this site. How to use the Windows System Configuration Utility (Msconfig) and the Services Console to control both programs and services is discussed. There is also some excellent freeware to help manage what runs in the background and one program, WinPatrol, is evaluated here. Below is a table showing examples of some services that might be unnecessary. Others are given in the references above. Some Candidates for Unnecessary Services Computer Browser Keeps track of the other computers on your network Error Reporting Service Reports failures of applications directly to Microsoft Fast User Switching To switch to other users on the same system without logging off Indexing Service Creates a searchable database of hard drive Messenger To send text popup messages to computers on the network Remote Registry For remote connection to the Registry Terminal Services Allows users to connect to the computer with remote desktop Wireless Zero Configuration Configures wireless 802.11 devices Configure Windows XPSome basic tweaks that help performance are discussed on another page in a previous article. Many tweaks are given in the references listed there and in the previous page. Some examples are:
Use Windows more efficientlySome basic ways to make using Windows more effective and more suited to personal needs are discussed in a series of pages on "Windows Your Way".

My hp pavilion dv2000 screen will not come on. all led lights work but screen will only stay blank. What do I do?

Suggest you check first for damage to the Display Cable, before going further.

This is HP Support, the support page for the HP Pavilion dv2000 series laptops, and the Manuals download page,

http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/manualCategory?lc=en&dlc=en&cc=us&lang=en&product=1817074&

Left-click on the first file name -
HP Pavilion dv2000 Notebook PC Maintenance and Service Guide.

After you click on the above PDF file name, you may not see anything happening for up to 30 seconds. The file is downloading in the background.
(For a test I downloaded it just now. Took almost 40 seconds with a medium speed DSL connection)

Don't know if you are familiar with PDF files. If so disregard the following.

Suggest you view the file at the 100% view. You can enlarge the view later anytime you wish.
At the top header is a Zoom In icon, and a Zoom Out icon.
Zoom In +
Zoom Out -

To the left is the Bookmarks menu.
By default it opens to the main heading - Maintenance and Service Guide.
Left-click on the + sign to the left of Maintenance and Service Guide.

Scroll down the sub-headings, and left-click on the + sign to the left of -
Removal and Replacement Procedures.

Now scroll down, and left-click on -
5.12 Display Assembly

You're on Page 145.
Use the blue Down Arrow in the top heading, and scroll down to Page 146.
I want you to view the Display Cable, item number 1.

Enlarge the illustration.
Scroll the page up a little for better clarity of the Display Cable.

The number 1 is pointing to the male connector on the end of the Display Cable, that plugs into the motherboard.
It is shown unplugged from the female (White) connector on the motherboard.

The Display Cable connects to the motherboard, and then routes to the LCD Display screen via right by one of the hinges. (Left Hinge)

Opening, and closing the laptop can cause the Display Cable to become partially disconnected from the motherboard.

The area the cable routes through, may cause damage to the cable over time. Generally the damage is visual enough to see.
Sometimes the cable is stretched, and the damage is not readily apparent.

The tiny wires inside that cable's sheath can be stretched far enough to break, and the outside sheath will show no apparent damage.
Fun stuff, huh?

Most of the time however, the male connection on the motherboard, has become partially disconnected.

To access the Display Cable:

1) Remove all power to the laptop.
Remove the AC adapter (Charger), and the Battery.

2) Lay the laptop on a table, push the LCD display assembly until it is laying flat on the table.

3) Remove the Keyboard.
(Page 137)

4) Remove the Switch Cover.
(Page 141)

I await your reply (Via a Comment) after you have opened the laptop, and diagnosed whether you have a Display Cable partially disconnected, or damaged, or no apparent damage is visible.

[ You may have to remove the Display Bezel from the Display Assembly, and look at the connection of the Display Cable going to the Inverter.

My back ground screen went black & my home page changed from my regular home page, Why?

W can no longer tell why or who chaged it but we can always go to Internet options on Control Panel and change the homepage you want to have.

For the wallpaper or background go to display properties and select your wallapaper. ?

Hard drive wiped :(

No. Not if the partition table was re-written on the 160GB and any data was written to it. If there is info that MUST be retrieved, there are pay services that can bit-retrieve and reconstruct some files. There is no guarantee.

I want backgrounds for myspace

try any of these urls:

http://images.google.com
http://www.deviantart.com

once you have found a background you like, you need to host it somewhere on the internet (you can try photobucket, flickr, imageshack, etc)

then you need to insert the code to make myspace display the background.

body {
background-image: url('http://www.domain.com/where/your/image/is/hosted.jpg');
}

this needs pasted into the "About Me" box of the edit profile page on myspace. be sure to, of course, replace the url i provided in the example with the actual url of the image you have hosted somewhere.

for more information on using the background-image css style, check here: http://www.w3schools.com/css/css_background.asp

alternatively, you can take the easy way out and simple use a myspace layout generator:

http://www.google.com/search?q=myspace+layout+generator

which will take care of all of this for you.
