Question about Kenmore Dryers
I am helping my mother with a problem on her dryer. She was out of town this past weekend. She returned and found her Sears Gas Dryer had all the indicator lights lit and is non responsive. I told her to unplug it for a day and see if it clears itself. It did not. Is there something that could reset the machine, or something we can do that would point to what is wrong? The model is 110.70092990 . Thanks for your help.

Hello, sounds like the rear drum rollers are in need of replacement which is causing the motor to get hot and cut out on the thermal cut out. It can be tricky to service if you not handy. Good Luck

Have you checked your outside vent while it was running to see if the dryer was venting 100%. If your clothes are hot and humid I would say clean your vent pipe has a blockage and needs to be cleaned out. Also as far as the burning smell you could take the front off (unplug first) the dryer of by removing 4 screws one above and one below the latch and two at the bottom and there are two clips one at the top left and right push in with a puddy knife and lift the top up a couple inches and lift the front up off the bottom holders. Then you will have access to vacuuming the lint that is floating around the burner.

I had this same issue. My dryer would run and heat up but then stop and give me the f40. I measured all thermisters and everything was in range. The tech sheet stated that I needed to buy a new control board and I did. Same problem.
The solution was a loose connection on for p4. I took needle nose pliers and squeezed the connector to make it fit tight on the board and everything is working now.
Bottom line, expensive dryer with cheap connectors.
